Need help awning is jammed up and will not come down

Recently retired, bought a 2007 keystone copper canyon fifth which is super nice, have it in campground getting use to things and winterizing it, and my first problem is the awning is already folded up about 6 inches and seems to be stuck, unable to loosen the side rails and of course unable to move it out of camp ground so its costing me day by day.

We are also first time campers and really hoping someone can give me a clue as to how to get it folded up all the way right.

There should be a “flipper” on the right arm at the tube. It is a ratchet device and will only allow the awning tube to turn in one direction or the other.

You may be able to spray some penetrating oil in the shaft of the flipper. Try working it back and forth.

Try this, I think it might be your problem:

I think you tried to roll up the awning with the tension knobs on the arms locked tight. What that did is put tension on the awning roller tube, preventing it from "freewheeling". That pressure has locked the "locking pawl" and "frozen the awning movement"....

There is a locking pawl on the forward end of the awning. The "lever" that you flip to unlock the awning so you can unroll it. You'll need to get on a ladder, use both hands to twist the awning roller tube clockwise (over the top of the fabric, which is loosening the tension on the awning roller tube). With less tension on the roller tube, you should have no tension on the locking pawl and it should move more easily. Have someone else flip it to the unlocked position. That should allow you to loosen the tension knobs on the awning arms so they will slide rather than lock the roller tube and make movement impossible.
