Residential fridge

I recently removed my RV fridge and replaced it with a small (9.8 CF) residential one. I also replaced my 12v house battery with two flooded 6v gold cart batteries. Finally I installed a xantrex Freedom Xi inverter to power it. My question is, how much strain will this put on my TV's electrical system? Can I turn the inverter on and keep the fridge cool as I travel? My TV is a 2017 F350 with the 6.7 liter diesel. I generally limit my driving to 8-10 hours a day, as I hate driving at night!! Thanks for any input!

As long as you have an active charge line while hooked up, your ok to run the inverter for the fridge.

Stock alternator output on your year F350 is either 175 amps or dual 175 amp if option for two alternators was ordered...

The fuse in that circuit to 7 way plug is rated at 30 amps... you won’t pull that many amps with inverter running your fridge while towing...

Regardless...the fuse would blow if there was an issue.

Another question

Also, since getting the 2X6v batteries installed, the battery level indicator only shows 3 out of 4 when on batteries. When connected to shore power, I get 4/4. Is this normal?

That "indicator" depicts a voltage level only, and not very well. Take a voltage withy a multimeter at the batteries with no shore [power connected. Then you will know the battery voltage. When you plug into shore power that "indicator" ios reflecting the voltage that the battery charger is supplying.

Brian, worry not about running that fridge with your truck. We have a very large residential fridge in the Suites and it has never, ever failed us, even on 16 hour days. The ice cream is still hard and the beer is cold.

I’d also buy a hydrometer .. from any local auto parts store and measure the specific gravity of those new GC2 battery cells...

This will give you and absolute accurate charge state of each battery. And of each individual cell of each battery . reading the voltage with a multi meter you should see

And if you measure specific gravity and those batteries are at 70 to 80 percent of full charge you are looking at 6 to 10 hours continuous charge from your converter before those two batteries are at full charge
