Electrical Question 22rbs

Ok, I need experienced TT owners. People that aren't afraid to work or fix small issues. Keysone had a recall on my model , 2020 keystone 22rbs cougar. They had to move a wire in solar power to the right side of breaker panel for protection. Well, now the outlet for massage chairs in dining tipout doesnt work. I know its the second breaker from bottom as my sister and brother in law bought the same trailer and his works still. He informed me of breaker to chairs. My question....how to get access to back side of panel? I'm sure a wire just came off and dont want another 80 mile trip to closest dealer if I can do this. Any help would be appreciated. Also...are there repair manuals or schematics available for some Keystones? Thanks all....

The solar wire recall wouldn’t affect the chairs. The solar wire would be part of the 12VDC stuff and the chairs are 110VAC.

Let’s start with the simple things: are you plugged into shore power and are you sure your getting power? Next thing is to check the outlet(s) that the chairs plug into. The chairs will have a couple of small cables that plug in, if everything else checks ok, then look at those, underneath the chairs.

Is it possible those outlets are on the GFCI circuit and the GFCI tripped? In my trailer, there are several GFCI outlets chained together but only one has a reset button on it. If one goes out they all go out. The one with the reset button is in the bathroom. It might be worth it to check.

If its popped, the GFCI won't reset without shore power. Are you plugged in?

Something like this non-contact induction voltage tester is a handy tool to have with you.

It shows presence of voltage without having to stick probes into anything.

Great for checking continuity through a breaker or voltage in a wire or at an outlet.

If in fact they broke or disconnected the wire to the second breaker, you don't need access to the rear to work it. Just take off the faceplate (after unplugging from shore power), then pop that single breaker (pry towards you on the proper end). It should come out with one black wire screwed into it. If the wire is missing, or broken off short, then you may have to get in back to fish it.

Harbor Freight has a coupon in the Parade Magazine this week for their non-contact tester. $3.99 with coupon, $5.99 without. https://www.harborfreight.com/electr...ter-63919.html

I have the same model w/off grid solar but have not heard of a recall. Can you send me a link so I can find out if it applies to me? It's extremely frustrating that I can't get a wiring diagram for the unit! Thanks

Call your dealer. You should have got a recall for solar prep wiring needing moved to protected side fuse panel.

You can read the recall notification on the Keystone website.

The list of VIN's for affected trailers is there as well as the details concerning the recall.

Here's the model/VIN information on the recall:
2020 Cougar Models: 22RBS, 23MLS, 25RES, 26RBS, 26RKS, 27RES, 27SAB, 27SGS, 29BHS, 29FKD, 29RLD, 30RKD, 31MBS, 32RDB, 32RLI, 34TSB
Serial Number Range: LV50322 - LV503996

The link to that specific recall is: https://www.keystonerv.com/media/915...wiring-web.pdf

If you have any questions, Keystone RV is closed and their "normal response" is always, "Contact your dealership for any information"... So, if your trailer is in the VIN range, contact your dealership for information. If your trailer is not in the VIN range and you're concerned about "behind the scenes correspondence", your dealership should be able to coordinate any answers you might need.

ADDED: The date of the recall is October 25, 2019. If your trailer was manufactured on December 4, 2019, I'd suspect that Keystone had already changed the assembly line to eliminate the issue on "trailers made after 10/25/19.

Wink

Thanks very much for the info. I tried to search for the recall on the Keystone site and didn't find it. Fortunately for us it appears our VIN is outside the range of the recall. Given the wiring rats nest on the A frame and lack of a wiring diagram I seriously doubt our dealer would have been able to fix this.

Actually when a recall is issued, the dealership is given specific instructions and pictures are included. To get paid, the tech must take pics and fill out a form. That said, unless the techs at your dealership can’t read or follow pics...I’ll k L eave the rest up to you.

Thanks for the additional insight. That gives me some hope that most dealers should be able to accomplish this recall. Unfortunately, our local Camping World couldn't wire two batteries in parallel correctly when I bought the unit, and yes I did give them a diagram!
