Ya know... that looks to be a pretty worthless filter from the factory... thinking about going for a much finer weave.
Be careful about what type of filter you use to replace that worthless factory filter. There are some filter media that will work and provide better filtration, but just putting "any ole filter" that can be cut to fit will probably create big problems with air flow. That will lead to reduced cooling and potentially cause icing on the cooling coils. CW and other RV dealers have replacement filter media that will work and provide a little bit better filtering, but you'll have problems if you try to get a 3 micron filter media to fit and work properly. Keep the AC coils clean annually and the factory filter clean with regular washes and you should be fine.

Yep, that's what I ment...

Now that you brought it up I DO take the exterior cover off at the start of the A/C season and I'll either blow-out the cooling fins with compressed air (when available), or use a hose to flush out the fins. All the mud daubers are not at home then (). If you chose to flush it out be sure it's compleately dry before you turn it on ().

The filter is ok, you can vacuum them or wash them to clean out any dust...
My 2 pence worth...

Walmart sells a three piece electro-static filter that is to be cut to fit for around $10. One stage is a green weave, the second is a black carbon and the third is a black plastic one inch mesh that is only meant to act as a holder. All three layers are loose. Tried it as recommended first but thought it restricted air flow too much. Took out the carbon sheet and it seemed to work much better. No problems yet. If I get any problem at all, I plan on taking out the green and putting in the carbon sheet. Just the carbon sheet is a much tighter weave than the original factory filter. Also... this filter for about $10 is large enough to cut three or four of my filters.

Anyone else try this? Good or bad results? PS: I've only had this filter in for one day so my results haven't stood the test of time yet.
