A Monday Champion
I got my new 3400w genny a few weeks ago. Opened the box and read the manual. filled it with oil and and fuel.
It started first pull. I let her run for 8 hrs at different speeds as per the manual.
This morning after the yard work. I figured i would change the oil when i noticed some oil under the front of the unit. Got a flashlight and started searching for the source of the leak. Then i noticed the air filter cover was open? after checking that out, it looks like someone at the factory put the air filter in backwards.
No big deal. Quick fix
Then i decided to take the front cover off (five screws and 2 bolts at the bottom). When i removed the cover i found the invertor was not installed correctly. It is missing one rubber bushing that slides over the mount on the side and sits in the bottom bracket. It was just sitting in there all cockeyed but they did tighten the bolts that hold the bushing in the bracket
Luckily i caught it before we left for our first dry camping trip.
I'll call the service line on Monday and i'm sure they will send me the needed parts.
Guess it was Monday in china

Kudos. You read the manual.
Kudos, again. Nothing like a proactive inspection to prevent operational issues "down the road".
FWIW, I began using Mobil 1 in my gens after the first descent trip that put some time on the gens (I have two, 2K gens). They see cold starts and prolonged running during hot weather, so I think the 10W-30, synthetic oil is beneficial, and I always use a gas stabilizer like Stabil. Never had a problem over the years with different gens.

Are you saying it is a Champion generator?
Agree, synthetic oil in air cooled engines. I'll even go along with double cross (EXXON) Mobil1. You could do worse. I think I had some leftover from the now gone Corvette that I put in my lawn mower.

Have the syn oil on the bench.
Spoke to champion this afternoon and the parts are coming also had them throw in the high altitude jet for the carb.
Like to spend time in the Smokeys but haven't dry camped there yet

Its been my experience that rejetting isn't required until the density altitude (elevation corrected for temperature) reaches 8-10,000'. Seeing as how the Smokys generally run 4-6,000' before a temp correction, you may not need to rejet. Nice to have the jet on hand, though, and the price is right.
One of my 2K's seems to run a little rich, so I might rejet that one as a test.

I'm with ya Desert185
The manual says over 3500 ft but then again they couldn't put the air filter in right
I wouldn't change it unless i had a rich condition but its good to have just in case

Re: A Monday Champion
This Summer I ran my Champion at 8,000ft and the temperature was 75 - 80, no re-jetting. It ran fine, maybe I was lucky.

Re: A Monday Champion
We camped in the collegiate peaks campground, the end of last May @ 9800 feet, my Champion 3100 ran fine, running the coffee pot, toaster and microwave, although I did not need to run the AC (there was still snow on the ground).
