Smile Finally ordering our new Cougar 327RES

We're going to Muskegon on the 26th to order our first fiver. I can't wait!

Do any of you have and suggestions for us?

Congratulations. I bought my first fiver in November a Cougar 325SRX. I've owned trailers and truck campers this is the biggest at 37 Feet. Hooking up and disconnecting a 5th wheel is a piece of cake compared to a trailer..

Suggestions..

I bought a 5th wheel tailgate for the truck.. I tried one trip with the stock tailgate on.. No matter what the circumstance I needed an extra person to help if I wanted to unhook. I tried one trip without the stock tailgate on.. Worked fine but then the truck bed had to be empty or potentially you'll lose stuff out the back.

Practise backing up to get familar. If you're used to a trailer it's different than a trailer. My first experience was in the dark in my own driveway. You'd think it was my first time backing a trailer up. It just tracks different than a trailer. Plus it was 10 feet longer than my old unit. Once you're used to it, they're smooth.

Buy one of those nylon skid plates for the 5th wheel king pin. Prevents scratches on your 5th wheel hitch and helps the trailer slide easier onto the hitch. They are about 10 bucks.

Enjoy the new unit!

Thumbs up Nice!

Devildogmom, great floor plan this 5th wheel has! It fits our needs too. We picked up ours in Texas (Anthony) on Feb 1st and have stayed in our 5th wheel 13 days that month and adding another 14 days as I type this for March. I'm sure you will enjoy!....Good luck and be safe!

Congrats. we love ours as well. We have had some minor problems, a leak under the bathroom sink, I fixed, the slider closet door latches have snapped off twice so far. We got ours in October last year and have only been out 4 times so far, but we will spend lots of time camping this year. I would like to add a fireplace under the T.V. Happy Camping, Sam

How do you find their service department?

I have not had the trailer back for service at that dealer. When we went to pick up the TT then had it set up on their lot ready for us to spend the night. The next day we signed the paperwork and had PDI which took about 2 hours. They set up our hitch for no cost. We live in Birmingham, AL about 775 miles away is the only reason we had service issues taken care here.
