Frameless emergency window flew off!
Hi There!
I've looked at all the posts about broken windows but not sure if it would apply to mine since its one of the new "frameless window" designs. Anyhow, we have a Fuzion 5er and were cruising down the freeway and we noticed it flapping. Before we could stop to fix, the whole thing came off and landed in the down an embankment (thankfully not striking any other vehicles). I called my dealer about a replacement but they said I can't just get the glass but would need the whole assembly. The interior frame and red clips are still intact. They quoted me $240 for the part alone. My question is, if I just got the glass from a glass shop, would I be able to fix it myself or should I suck it up and have my dealer install? Thanks!!

It's a 2013. Was it a defect, or did you just forget to latch it shut?
I'm curious if it's safety glass or not. I'd totally give a glass shop a try.

Loriv247, Howdy;
Helpful /handy tip for when you have it fixed.
I use small zip-ties to ensure the latch is 'latched'
before I hit the road. clip it off when I arrive, repete.
Did 2 miles of washboard road going and again coming from a
campground along the San Juan River last Oct. Both windows
are still in there holes.

Had the emergency escape window on my 5er and it was replaced under Warranty from KZ but it came back with a letter saying not to use the window other than in an emergency! Not for ventilation. We then used a velcro cable tie when travelling to ensure the latch did noy unlatch.

Not sure why you got a letter from KZ on your Keystone window, but anyway.... As a parent, how many times did you tell your kids not to do something if you thought they might screw it up? The window has a screen on it for a reason, to keep bugs out when it's being used for ventilation..... The big issue is to make sure the red handled emergency lever is locked and secured before travel. Most of us use either a bungee cord or a "big rubber band" and "sort of" ignore the "don't use this window" from "mom" LOL

I know one camper who had the same thing happen, and another who saw it flapping in his rear view mirror. Both swear that it was latched when they left. I use elastic to keep it latched, the kind used to tie lobster claw. It’s just the right size and works great.

I have a rubber band on our latch. Will come off very easy if needed.
