Electrical

The converter is always running. Of switch the breaker off labeled W/H it stop running. What is this label and any idea why this is happening. Also if I switch this breaker off the lights dim. Could this be a battery issue.

Buffalo48fire,

to the forum. There are a number of threads already posted about converter issues. You may find some information in them while waiting for responses to your question. When you say that turning off the water heater circuit breaker stops the converter fan, apparently the converter is wired into that CB. The lights dimming probably means that the battery isn't being fully charged (or can't be fully charged) which, as you said, may well mean a battery issue. It may be as simple as corrosion on the battery terminals. Disconnect the battery from the trailer and see if the fan in the converter stops running. It may take several minutes to stop as there is a temperature sensor that controls the fan. If it does stop, chances are your battery is not up to par. Check water level, if it's full, then take the battery to an auto store and have it checked. It may well have a bad cell.

Ideally, if you have a spare battery around (in another vehicle, etc) install it and see if the fan runs with it. MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THE TERMINALS CORRECTLY TO THE + AND - BATTERY POSTS!!!!!
The fan is supposed to run when the converter is producing 12 VDC above a certain amp rating. This is to help cool the transformer and electrical components to prolong their life. It will run if there's a heavy 12VDC demand, whether it's lights, refrigerator or the battery charger. So, if you take the battery out of the system and it still is running, there's something else triggering the fan. If, however, the fan stops when the battery is removed, that's probably your answer.

Again, welcome to the forum.
