Did you retract it and now it’s stuck? If so you may need a socket and long breaker bar to free it.

No its not jacked all the way up. It was jacked up just enough this past fall to get it off the ball. Could the motor be froze?

Sounds like it. Simple enough to replace though.

Most electric jacks are not "water proof" rather they are "water resistant" to some extent. So, if it sat outside, uncovered and unprotected, in the weather, through rain, snow, sleet, ice, freezing and thawing, then yes, the weather may have taken a toll and damaged the motor. I'd try to use the "manual drive device" to get the motor turning if possible, then try the electric motor again.

Most people put a 5 gallon bucket over their electric tongue jack to keep it "out of the weather" while in storage.

What brand is it? Is OE and LCI? If so does it have a rubber grommet on the top? If that's there see if water has gotten under it. It did on mine and there was a control board right under it that got full of water and it was shot. Replaced with a Stromberg Carlson 5T.

Also, on the LCI there is a manual method of retracting that uses and nut under that cover. I put a socket on mine and as soon as I turned it the head crumbled like it was made out of some sort of cheap junk metal....and 1/2 the head stuck, really stuck, inside the socket.

Last spring the tongue jack on my Passport would go up but not down. I called tech support for the jack and was told it most likely was a bad ground. After removing the jack and cleaning up the mating surface, mounting bolts and wire connections it still didn't work. I even ran a separate ground wire from the base of the jack to the negative side of the battery and still no luck. I replaced the up/down switch and again it didn't work. Another call to Tech support and I was informed the circuit board must be at fault and to replace the jack. I ended up replacing the jack with a less expensive brand and I bought a cover for ten bucks to keep the rain out.

Exact same thing happened to the LCI on my first travel trailer. Water under the grommet and the crumbling head when I tried to manually raise the jack. I now keep a cover on my jack at all times except when towing.

The manual way doesn't work either. This got stuck this past fall and I just tried again cause i have to move it. did some research, either the gears got striped, or the motor froze

With an 8,800 gvw trailer you likely have about 1k tongue weight. Those tongue jacks aren't much IMO. I'd suggest buying a heavier rating and keep it covered to protect it from the rain. First thing I did was remove the OEM jack when we bought this trailer. Replaced it with a Husky 4500 with remote and a vinyl cover. It's now going on year 10 and works as well as the day I installed it.

I ended up replacing it with a 3500lb jack, that's all they had. Now just waiting for a warm day to replace it
