Several other folks have asked the same question recently. The first thing to check is the winterizing valve. If it is not fully turned to the pump position, it will just run the pump with nothing coming through. It is usually located right next to the pump on the input side. Some of them have a few feet of hose on the winterizing side of the valve to insert in a jug of RV antifreeze. Others have a small plug where that hose connects.
Also, if you are hooked up to city water, the pump won't pump because of the pressure created by the city water hookup. Disconnect or at least shut off the city water feed.
