If it says maintenance free and doesn't have removable caps, then it is a maintenance free battery. The dealer we purchased our rig from installed two maintenance free batteries in it, and several years later I replaced them with larger maintenance free batteries. They lasted over six years and a little over a years ago, I replaced them with the same size and brand. I never have to do anything to them except once in a while I might just check the connections. We do not do a lot of boondocking, so don't have the need for the golf cart type batteries that have to be checked for water regularly.
You don't say what rig you are using this battery on, and if it is the only battery. If you are adding this to one existing battery, that is not a good idea because they should be installed at the same time with like batteries.
