Furnace issues

Well I have been researching replacing the fan motor in our 16 year old furnace. Noticed a bit of vibration when running and it seemed to be getting worse. I was going to do it next month after we moved to our new host site. Well the morning of March 22nd it sounded like the bearings were really going out, so got on line and ordered a replacement fan motor.
Our furnace doesn't have outside access so it needs to come out along with the Cheap Heat unit.
Well got it out without too much effort, got it out of the case and removed the combustion fan cover. I spun the fan by hand and seemed fine no noticeable bearing wiggle. Then I removed the cover over the blower fan, surprise, surprise, surprise! I did replace the blower motor, as I could see some bronze dust on the combustion fan side.

I’ve seen residential furnaces with a vibration so bad the furnace could walk across the floor..sometimes it’s fabric softener dryer sheet or piece of the old dirty air filter that got sucked up in the blower wheel....it doesn’t take much to throw it out of balance

Looks like your squirrel cage fan is really a mouse cage fan That would throw the balance off a bit.

Poor little guy thought it was an exercise wheel. Just another example of why I stay away from treadmills and such
