New to RVing with our 17 Outback 293ubh - roof maintenance question

Hello All,

Thank you for this great forum. We have just received our 2017 Outback 293ubh. I understand that this roof is a TPO roof and it is non walk-able. How does everyone complete their maintenance. I have heard of using plywood (which I would wrap in a sheet or use foam) I weigh about 260 and wondering if this would be okay or if I should just have it completed at an RV center.

Thanks

I'm a "plus sized" man myself and wouldn't walk on my roof. Fortunately, I'm also tall with long arms so I do the roof maintenance from a ladder. A little time consuming moving the ladder around but it works for me.

Welcome to the forum

Congrats on your new to you purchase. ANY task you can do by yourself will save you lots of money and time as it would probably sit for a while at the RV Shop. A couple of 4’X4’ sheets of thin plywood would help distribute the weight. I would bet the shop doesn’t use anything.

You could probably build rolling scaffolds in the amount of time & money you'd pay a RV shop to do your roof.
As Chuckster said I doubt the shop used anything to walk on the roof so use the plywood, or whatever, to spread your weight & do it yourself you'll likely get as good a job, or better, for a lot less money.
