Montana HC shades are TERRIBLE...
Had two of the pull-down shades in my new Montana HC 353RL replaced right off the bat (took 2 weeks + to obtain the replacements). The mechanic at Camping World, where we bought the trailer, told me that the manufacturer had replaced the metal "ratchets" (?) with plastic ones and that you could feel it when they sheared off. He was right; I was just out in the fifth wheel and tried to raise the bedroom shade, it only went up part way. Started to pull it down some to see if it would go up further and sure enough I felt the "ratchet" mechanism fail... pop, pop, pop! I would like to have all of the shades replaced with something reliable but I guessing that's NOT an option. Anyone else out there having issues with these cheap shades and what (other than replacement of the failed unit) are you doing about the problem? My previous two trailers (Forest River products) had either the "old fashioned" Venetian blinds or day/night shades and those never posed a problem. You should be able to reliably shutter the windows at night for privacy purposes and the open them the next morning but it doesn't seem to work that way with these things, they're subject to failure no matter how gently you try to be with them.
