When the panel is cut, the exposed plywood should be sealed with something but never is, like a sponge when it gets wet it just sucks up water, the horse trailer manufacturers years ago called the fiberglass sided trailers FRP, (Fiberglass Reinforced Plywood) when they cut holes in the FRP for windows, doors, etc. sometimes water would leak through to the plywood, of course delamination would occur causing bulging in the fiberglass, how they solved this problem is smear waterproof caulking onto the cut opening of the plywood before installing a window, door etc. after a few years of the FRP trailer, then came along the all aluminum trailer which was much lighter and stronger...
