Montana 12 volt electrical problem

When I was replacing the batteries in my 2008 Montana 3465SA I grounded the positive lead. Since then I have been having 12volt issues. My landing gear, rooms and generator will work off the battery as long as they are charged.

Nothing else 12 volt will work, If I am plugged in to shore or running off the generator everything works.

I don't think my batteries are being charged when plugged in either.

I am fairly certain that I blew either the fuse on the converter or converter itself. I checked all other fuses.

I cannot find the converter. I pulled the fuse panel and breaker box to look behind like I have seen in other threads but it is not there.

Anyone know where they put the 12 volt converter on a 2008 Montana 3465SA?

Any help is appreciated.

I can't help you with the location of the converter in the '08 Montana but there is, or should be, a reverse polarity fuse that is in line with the converter which may have blown.

Thanks Festus, I checked every fuse I can find they are all good. I am not sure which lead goes to the converter that is why I want to find it so I can check at the converter.

The converter is usually located in close proximity to the incoming AC power cord connection on your RV. Sometimes, you can hear the converter fan running if you turn some lights - that may give you a clue as to its general location.

When you find it and start to poke around looking for the reverse polarity fuse, don't forget to disconnect your shore power cord from your Montana.

I did some poking. There are two 40 amp reverse polarity fuses on the fuse panel. Both are good.

There is also a carpet covered box near where the shore power comes into the rig. It is not something that seems removable. I am hesitant to pull it off, it must be covering something but it just may be the plug for the shore power.

There is a circuit breaker that says "conv" when I turn it off there is no longer any 12v power to the rig. That leads me to believe the converter is working.

So the only question is what would keep 12v power from going into the rig unless plugged into shore?

Before you go any farther, if you have not tested the batteries, DO SO....

The issue has been resolved. While reading another post it mentioned the battery disconnect switch. I just checked mine and it was in the off position. Turned it to the on position an Voila.

I don't know how it got switched but I am glad that is all it was.

Thank you
