Trip planner
Is there a good trip planner to put on a laptop/tablet that will plan a route and show fuel stops, food, campgrounds, etc... I had the Delorme Street Atlas program but it doesn't work with Windows 7. It also wasn't RV specific. Also interested in what peole are using on an Ipad/tablet.

I must admit that I use three devices for my travels.
First, I use MS streets & trips. This shows your routes (which you can customize) and you can find fuel stations, places to eat, and campgrounds.
Second, I use my GPS. It will do the same as my MS streets program, but in addition gives you the driving directions and should you break down, you look up your coordinates in order for help to come.
Third, I use my Road Atlas, this is helpful as it gives info from state to state. Such as speed limits, and low bridge clearances .
With all three of these items I get as much detailed info about a city as I need.
Also, having internet on the road is great for looking up the campgrounds you might want to stay at, things you want to do and banking information along the way. Also, finding a doctor, hospital or pharmacy - should you need one.
Hope this was helpful,
Jo

You may want to try the Good Sam trip planner. While it is "brand specific" in that it lists the Good Sam affiliates first, it does give you some options that may help you plan your trips. You can access it from the Good Sam website.

Have used the Good Sam planner many times. Really like it. As a Good Sam member, you can get the Flying J gas credit card. Can get per gallon discounts up to 6 cents/gal off. We always stop at Pilot or Flying J's as a result. I get good mileage info on their website. Lots of good info there. I use their mobile app as well.

I use Microsoft Streets and Trips and then do a MegaPoi file download which literally has everything you would want as an RVr. Great for planning as it will show where your fuel stops or rest stops should be. It shows the rest stops as a small moon icon and then with the other icons turned on you can see where you would want to stay within that area. It costs around 60 on the internet with the GPS
Another thing, I have this on my computer in the rv and just save the trip on a USB drive and put it in my Samsung Netbook in the truck. The 10in screen is great for the vehicle instead of those small things that all the GPSs have.

Trip Plan
we use Triple A Called Trip Pic I call them & tell them the route what I'm interested in seeing sightseeing campgounds gas stops etc. they then send you a page by page trip plan with the mileage for each page along the route. They also include state maps tour books to coincide with your route, I then use my atlas to further plan my daily stops where I'll be camping I also use the next stop to plan gas stops our what ever our needs may be!
