Motorcycle hauling

Hello to all

I am a newbie to your forum needing info from anyone who will give it. What I am trying to find out if a Keystone Springdale 17.9 TT which belongs to my son in law can handle mounting a large motorcycle on the rear but not towing the bike on another trailer. It appears double towing is illegal in most eastern states and we wish to carry our motorcycles with us. Will the springdale 17.9 handle a motorcycle ramp on the rear that would weigh in the area of 900 lbs. If a rear ramp is installed would that be too much weight on the rear of this trailer since the load is rated over 2000 lbs but i am sure thats not all on the rear. What would it do to the tongue weight beside make it lighter. Would it make the trailer sway badly from the rear mounted weight or would the TT handle it.
Has anyone ever done anything like this or similiar and what was the results.

Thanks guys in advance.

I have seen this mod on motor coaches but not on aTT.
You would half to install a deck & ramp off the frame past the stock bumper.
by the time you were done that alone would be in the 1,000.00 lb range!
i would not risk it. Imho.

I took my TT to a trailer hitch shop and had a class III hitch welded to the frame. It stubbed out 2 inches past the rear bumper.

I then bought a motorcycle hauler that slips into the hitch. I only haul a 250cc Dual-Sport motorcycle that does not weigh much. The hauler is "T" shaped and rated for 900lbs. I would not feel comfortable though putting that much weight on it.

Take care,
Lee

That is way too much weight to put on the rear of a TT (if you want the motorcycle to still be there when you arrive that is.) The bumper and frame would never take it without extensive modification, and even then you would probably throw the originally-designed frame loading/hitch weight/etc. far off. Just not practical I'm afraid.

If you want to haul motorcycles tow with a PU truck and put them in
the bed of the truck or change to a toy hauler.

What you are asking is totally unsafe for this TT.

In the unlikely event that you could actually get the structure of the trailer to support this much weight.... you would have effectively rendered a very small, if not negative, tongue weight.

So, good luck for actually getting the trailer down the highway....

If anybody figures out how to do this (I don't have enough room in my PU bed) I'd love to carry one of my motorcyles along, too.... but at approximately the same weight, I'd have an identical problem.....
