My average for the trip up was 11.3 and the trip back was 9.8 mpg, actual. I did not count the time there (about 600 miles.) I spent only enough time on interstates to get from one US highway to the next, and I drove 65 mph. On the way up the weather was nice except for about 5 hours of a heavy crosswind. The results on the way back were skewed by a 35mph headwind the entire last day. The truck handled the wind much better than I expected but on that last day I was comparing it to my old GMC D/A diesel. In that headwind it didn't want to stay in 6th gear.
The US and state highways in Kansas and Nebraska are better than the interstates in my home state. Very pleasant (although boring) to drive on.
The Ecoboost had plenty of reserve power with my Bullet 248RKS. On a couple of occasions I had to kick it up to get around some harvest equipment and it worked like I was not towing. My camper is not heavily loaded. Overall, I was pleased with the truck and would only go back to the GMC D/A if I was pulling a huge, heavier trailer.
