Model Numbers

Does anyone know the logic or reasoning behind the different model numbers on Cougars. I have a Cougar XLite 28SBS. In other words what is the significance behind the "SBS" and other three letter codes for Cougars..

Thanks

B usually indicates Bunk but can also be Bath depending on model. S mostly means slide. K for kitchen. R for rear. Our new 246 RBS means Rear Bath Slide. A 248RKS would be Rear Kitchen Slide.

Model Numbers

Thanks for the information. I know there has to be some logic to this.

The letters indicate a specific feature about the floorplan or layout of the trailer. As KJcachers said,
there can be a few variations ['B' for bath or bunk], but they're typically similar 'code letter
combinations' for all manufacturers. Here's a few of the more common ones:

MK (mid-kitchen)
RK (rear-kitchen)
FK (front-kitchen)
RB (rear-bath)
RL (rear-living)
FL (front-living)
RE (rear-entertainment)
B or BH (bunk or bunk-house)
TG (Tail Gate; models w/ outdoor kitchen)
G or GS (galley or galley slide)
S or SS (slide or super-slide)

SBS...?? That's a new one... I have no idea what that combination stands for.
Do you have a bunk room with a slide-out?

So what does "WE" stand for?

I have a Cougar 30RKSWE. Rear Kitchen and slide but no idea what the WE is.

Edit: Think it might mean West Coast Edition

Dan, you're welcome... and no problem with the "brain lapse" We have a smiley for that too

GMcKenzie, you're correct...'WE' at the end of the model # indicates that it's a WEst coast model
built at Keystone's Pendleton (Oregon) plant.

I have a Cougar 293SAB. haven't figured the numbers/letters out yet. Before buying this one I always thought the number was the length but mine is 34' not 29'. I do have bunks in a slide but haven't figured out the A yet.

Randy, Does your TH have a Loft over garage? As for the numbers they used to run fairly close to the size of living space with out pin box or hitch but lately it seems as if manufacturers are just saying, "Look how much room you get in our 290 or 320 and so on." Travel safely, Hank

Hank, there was some speculation that the new model numbers equate to the square footage of the trailer with slides open for use. when considering a 33' trailer, measuring the length "used to be" an indicator of how much room you had, but now, a 33 footer may have one, two three or even more slides, so the interior space can no longer be measured by length. So manufacturers are going to a "total footage" measurement in the model to give a better indication of size. I just wish they'd have told us what they were doing.....

On mine I calculate that we've got 243 sq ft of living space, so the 242 designation may hold true, on the Springdale 249 and 253 it's pretty much acurate, not sure if it does on other models or not, but seems close at least in the ones I've looked at.

They always mean something, every maker has their own nomenclature, and there is no standard designations. My Keystone Hornet 29RLS means the box is 29' and it is a rear living slide model

As for the TG? It stands for Tail Gate. As in, isn't it great that I have an outdoor kitchen for this tail gate party?

I also have the 246RBS. I did not know RBS stood was a designation for "rear bath", "slide". I do know the box length is 24' 6", so I figured that was the 246 designation.

how are you liking it? any major repair issues yet? our 2013 comes with a standard dinette, which we prefer. I am assuming yours has the U shape dinette.

You are correct. I have a 3220BHWE. It means it was built at the Plant in Oregon, the west coast, or at least that is the way I understand it.
