Recommendations please.

We have taken out our dinette table and seating in our Cougar 22RBS. Want to put 2 nice manual recliners not electric in its place. Looking for some suggestions please. Thank y'all.

I had a LazyBoy recliner love seat in our camper. Missus wanted a new couch in the house so I sold the LazyBoy and put the two oversized microfiber recliners in our camper the love seats place. I like the recliner better. In any case, buy the recliners and make sure the backs come out which makes it real easy to put them in or take them out of your camper. If the back don't come out of the frame you will have a hard time getting them in.

Thanks wiredgeorge. That was our major concern about buying something online.... not knowing if the back comes off or not.

We bought a couple of recliners pretty much like this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/16513821746...QAAOSw73phb5vu

Our recliners are gray color. Contact seller and ask if the back comes as a separate piece when shipped...

Here's something I just thought about. Do you have the base of the recliners screwed down? Or are the heavy enough that they stay still during traveling?

I haven't had any recliners that were screwed down. Mine move a little.

If they are on a slide, you have to be very careful screwing into the floor. Too long and you’ll gouge the main floor when you run the slide.

Yes they will be in the slide out. Maybe I could use some kind of wedge against them while we're on the road?

Our old 5er had two recliners next to the dining table all in a big slide out. There were eyelets with straps to secure em while traveling but after a while we stopped strapping them and never had any issue. They had that bonded leather crap and after about 2 years started peeling. We bought a love seat recliner from RecPro had a center console which was nice, also came in 3 sections that locked together once we got em inside. Used some 1" wood screws to secure them to the slide floor so they wouldn't protrude through the bottom like Chuckster was warning about. After 4 years they were still good when we traded it in.

From George's Ebay suggestion: "Each piece ships in one (1) box. Assembly required. Takes less than 15 minutes to assemble."
I believe if a recliner is to be shipped then the back is removable.

That is why I suggest this type recliner. And never screwed down the chairs nor our dining room table and chairs I bought from Ikea. Just turn the table over and set the chairs between table legs and put a bungee cord through the chairs and around the legs of the table.

Every camper I've owned, I've added these eyelets to the floor to help secure things when in transit. These are hangers for picture frames. I find them at Wall Mart where the picture frames are located. They are incredible strong and almost identical to the ones installed on the floor from the factory. In install them with 3/4 inch#6 dry wall screws. Very strong course threaded screw and very short so won't go through and hurt anything under the slides.

The one in the photo below is not installed with a dry wall screw. It was one of the first ones I tried years ago.

Thanks for all of y'alls input already. I really like them little eyelets for securing stuff too. Alot better than my dumb idea of wedges. This is our first camper of any kind. So we are needing all the help we can get. Appreciate it all too.

I would not install any hooks or anchors initially. Put the new furniture in place, watch it during your first couple of trips. If it moves, then start planning how to secure it. Honestly, most people are concerned when they first start towing, but after a couple of trips, they either forget to strap down their recliners or they can't find the strap... After towing home with nothing moving in the trailer, the light bulb goes on and they quite often don't find a need to keep adding the extra work to towing.

You may find you need to secure them, but I'd guess that like most of us, things don't move nearly as much as you'd think....

Try it first before spending the money and risking putting a screw through the slide floor.

Our Bullet 291rls has straps for the recliners in the rear. I quit using them and actually quit turning one of the recliners sideways because they seldom move. I have to rotate the on behind the slide as it is in the way of the slide.

See how they ride first before putting in anchors.

We have never strapped chairs down, never had them move.

We did the same thing in our Cougar 22rbs. We already had a couple of dark brown leather "Euro" reliners with ottomans and they fit perfectly in the space. I even left the storage box across the outer part of the slide. So much more comfort and usability than the factory dinette. The chairs stay put during transit, no problems.

Recliners

We pulled out our Jack knife sofa and installed a reclining love seat from Ashley Furniture. Came in three pieces, 2 backs and the base. Took 5 minutes to install. It's in our slide and we don't screw or strap in down at all. It was a great change.

Just a though here……………we have a 2017 21RBS, essentially the same unit you have. I remember reading somewhere in the owners manual to never stand or walk on the slide when it’s in, because it’s not supported and flexing it can cause issues. And it is true btw, when the slide is in, it’s above the floor by 1/2-3/4”. Having closely inspected the construction of the “dinette” seating area, the cheap flimsy wood they used for framing, I’ll bet the entire “dinette” doesn’t weigh more than 30 lbs, if that. The heaviest part is the table top and metal legs, which we always remove and lay on the bed when towing. So I’m suggesting some caution in putting a couple 75-100 lb each recliners on the slide and bouncing down the road, if Keystone’s warning is in fact correct.

Measure all the dimensions as well as features like “wall away” where chair slides on it’s own frame to recline or if you always need to move it out to clear the wall and how far into living space does it protrude.

Best advice is shop for “non RV models” get brand name models sold anywhere but an RV supplier. They’re better built and more comfortable.
LazyBoy and other well known brands. Price can be about the same or less than the overpriced RV stuff.

In determining what piece you want, confirm it will fit in your RV door, around a corner or hallway. Most recliners don’t fit unless the back is removed. Most all just slide off/on with rail & snap.
