Keystone Retreat slide out won’t fully extend
Hi
We bought a 2012 keystone retreat that’s only parked at camp ground. The prior owners left slide out fully extended always. We noticed yesterday that it’s not fully extended. We pushed button and you hear motor work but it won’t extend any more. Any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum
What type of slide is it? Slide outs won’t extend “flush” with the wall. If it’s cable operated, it will be fully extended when there is still 4-6 inches between the wall and the slide facia.

How have you determined that its not fully extended? Have you tried retracting it fully?

Keystone Retreat
I’m pretty sure it’s a rack and pinion. It’s flush on left but huge gap on right we can see light and feel air on inside of rv on top of dining area. Do we have to disengage the jacks to move it?

Jacks? Do you mean stabilizers? As long as there are no jacks or other devices under the slide out you will be fine to move the slide in or out.

We only extend or retract our slide when the two rear scissor stabilizers are exteneded. Of course, on a 5th wheel, the front legs are down. Can you get under and look at the mechanism that moves the slide in and out?

If there is any type of jacks under the slide, take them out and throw them away!!! They are NOT needed on modern slides and can cause major issues. If you can run the room all the way in, is the gap still there? There are procedures to “retime” the racks so it runs even.

Jacks
We figured out that our jacks are keeping it separated. We took jacks off and it was almost flush to wall, once we engaged jacks it pulled it away from wall.
