Canvas separating on expandable trailer

Hi All,

My family has been using a 2017 Keystone Passport 171EXP for a couple years now, and just love it. But we noticed during our last trip that the top corners of the canvas over the forward bunk have begun to separate. It looks like the canvas is stitched into a plastic seal that connects to the frame, and that seal is splitting. The other side looks like it is getting ready to do the same.

As a temporary fix, I'm considering putting some strong tape over the gap to keep bugs and moisture out, but I am looking for ideas on something more permanent. Most places I've called about fixing it say they're booked up for the next couple months. I'd rather not wait that long, as I'm afraid it will continue to separate with use (and we camp 2-3 weekends a month).

Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do? Or will the whole canvas need to be replaced? Pictures attached, one is a closeup of the damaged area and the other is from further back to help show the location.

Thanks!

Phone a tent shop or other business that does heavy material repair, you may need to remove the parts and reinstall. No need to use a RV dealer.

I'm guessing you likely have some boat canvas shops within a reasonable distance. I'd reach out to them before tapeing it up as that could turn a repair in7o a replacement.

I would suggest a boat shop.

You will probably find more help in a hybrid TT forum. I traded in my Jayco X17Z last year and it had the same problem. I still follow the Jayco hybrid forum and can say there are plenty of post about this in the forum. Once the corner separates from the plastic I believe a new canvas is needed.
