Expandable/Collapsible drinking hoses
So tired of the super STIFF, cant roll up, drinking water hose I have. I have two collapsible hoses I use at home and thought, what about RV.
Has anyone a good recommendation?

A couple on the site across the street from us had one of those light weight hoses, and a couple weeks ago their entire site was flooded when the hose sprung several leaks. They now have a conventional hose that seems to be holding up well, and the water pressure here is pretty consistent at 50 psi. I’m not sure those hoses can handle constant pressure but work well in a situation where you are watering the yard or washing the car.

Whether it's of concern or not! I've drank out of water hoses all my life with no ill effects as far as I know, but some are not rated for drinking water.
Also from my experience the collapsible ones if left constantly pressurized seem to spring leaks rather quickly.
I did have the Zero G to use as my black tank rinse/rv wash hose. I won't drink out of it!
The cheap drinking water hoses at Walmart & other outlets or that the dealer may have given you do tend to be stiff & get more brittle laying in the sun, but if you spend a bit more for good quality one they seem to be less stiff & easier to roll up.

As long as they have alloy end fittings, and are plastic hoses, I'll drink from them. I've ingested enough pure BPA powder to kill a hundred lab monkeys.
If I remember correctly the ZeroG is rated safe for drinking.
I've had mine on the house and RV for maybe 3+ years.
But, I try to turn off the water when we leave camp, just in case.

I should probably turn off the water when I leave. I never gave it a thought..

I’ve been using these custom built hoses for 8 years now.. they don’t get stiff and hardy in cold weather.. I have two.. one is five feet long to connect m6 dual stage water filter to fifth wheel and other runs to RV water spigot.. great product.

If you are worried about it Zero G makes a drinking safe hose. https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-2X50-RE...HOSE/127842234
We have been using one for a couple years and I love it. Mines not blue.

Zero g is what I have ..get two different color ones if you use one for general cleanup at the campsite. I would get a 25’ for freshwater and a 50’ for everything else.. also check around, prices are all over the place..I got mine at Lowe’s cheaper then Amazon

Zero G here also. Two things we alway do: 1- turn off the water when we leave the campsite and 2- never step on the hose.

I have a 25' Zero G and a 50' Zero G. Between the two or together I can reach short, medium and X-long reaches to the hose bib. Zero leaks, but I always shut off the spigot when I leave. Two close calls leaving the water on and being away.
1. Toilet fills if incoming water pressure is too low. It came close to overflowing.
2. In the shower we had a small rack that had suction cups holding it to the inside shower wall. It fell of the wall and hit and opened the hot water shower handle. Water began to run for hours and thank God we had the gray water drain opened or it would have flooded every thing. Now we shut off the water because Murphy rides with us.

I also bought a couple of zero g hoses on recommendations. I have not tried them yet, but here are a few things I considered.
They are drinking water safe.
They are a soft hose, but do not expand. That makes them more durable. I bought the 25' size and they fit in the plastic shoe boxes you get at Walmart for $2.
I found the at target.com for $29 for 25' and $39' for 50'. Target also usually has some other coupons or free shipping. It's the best price I could find recently
There seems to be an issue with the alloy ends fusing to brass fittings, so I plan to use some Teflon tape. Plus, I use quick disconnects, so I decided it wasn't a big issue.
They seem to have a good warranty that they honor.

Collapsible hoses
I use one for gardening and cleaning of RV outside original sprang a leak so on second one now. I keep one in the RV for Black water use if required as well as a 15 Ft extender hose to flush black tank.
They specifically state not for drinking so you take your chances there, I use a standard white one for potable water.

Just be sure you see something on the package that says it is drinking water safe. Materials in many hoses are not safe for drinking. They leach oil and chemicals as they are in operation. Some are great for gardening, but you really don't want to drink out of them. They're not made like they used to be.

I also have been drinking out of hoses for most of my life until a couple years ago we had the health department stop into our concession. We were using s regular bucket for some things like carrying ice.
She told us not to do that anymore. With all the recycling going on you never know what the previous life of the plastic was. Since it was not listed as food grade the plastic could be a recycled insecticide or pesticide container. Plus with all the global sourcing it could have other chemicals in it we would not even think of. I just read a report from Australia that they are having a big problem with fruit, in cans, imported from China because the solder on the cans contained lead. We stopped that more than 50 years ago. You just don't know anymore.
I thought about what she said and decided she was right.
I now no longer drink out of hoses or use buckets unless I know they are safe.
