Propane tank gauge.

'Sup!

Need a little help finding a dual tank propane gauge. I have seen a few but they are mostly for single tank usage. Anyone got a inside tip for one I can put on my duals? Kind where I can, after one is empty and switch it over to other tank and the gauge stays?
Thanks!

AC

If you already have an automatic switching regulator, that works, you really don’t need anything else. Most of the gauges don’t work anyway, and I’ve never seen any that work with two cylinders. We full time, and depending on the season, check the indicator occasionally, more so in colder weather, and have never run out of propane. When the indicator shows red, it’s time to get that cylinder filled

Try these if you want gauges for each tank... Amazon. Search "propane pigtail gauge"

A pressure gauge on a propane tank is useless. By the time the pressure drops the tank is empty. My tanks are behind a panel in the front cap and are not easily accessible. I use a mopeka tank sensor that sends a Bluetooth signal to an app on my phone. I love it and have been using it for years. Topeka.com

X2
I have never seen a need, I have two tanks on auto switch over. I check the regulator to see if it has a red band indicating the primary tank is empty. I then switch and fill.

Another Mopeka user here....they work great. I even bought the "XL" sensor (Mopeka) and use it on my home 100 lb propane tank.

I read good thinks about the Mopeka so bought a set for my last trailer. Totally unrealiable. Called them and they sent another set....still didn't work. I left the whole setup in the trailer when I got rid of it and went back to using the built in regulator.

Propane tank gauge.

Originally my Mopeka sensors didn’t not work until I realized the propane tank tray mounting bolts were contacting the sensors. After relocating the bolts wider apart, the sensors have been very reliable and accurate. I will not be without them and the dedicated display mounted in the FW.

How long ago was that? Seems I remember an issue with the early ones hut I may be mistaken. Was yours the model with a separate reader/display or the phone app model?

Unfortunately on my trailer the LP tanks are recessed into an "alcove" covered with a fiberglass panel. To add insult to injury, the battery sets in front of that panel. So for me to visually see the changeover valve is a Remove a panel and "stand on my head" ordeal.

It was an "answered prayer" when I installed mine. I will say the little rubber feet that came with it were a joke hut the tank halo they sell solved that issue, at least for me.

I got mine maybe 2-3 years ago. I don't like smartphone apps so it had the little monitor mounted in the hallway. Initially I thought it was the little aluminum legs causing an issue so bought another set and put them on. Then one of the LP tanks bottom edges was too short so that caused an issue and I bought a new tank. It was just a hassle and they either never came off full or off empty. I left them on but never looked at the remote and just did as I always have done and periodically check the regulator and refilled when one was empty. I bought them as well to minimize the open the cowl, dig in there and check them but in the end that was the easiest way. I figure something was wrong but I didn't expend the time to find it....I bought another trailer.

I was being facetious. That wasn't the reason I bought a new trailer...it just went with it.

Sure, sure, I'm just jealous 'cause I can't buy a new truck when the floor mats get dirty (used to say when the ashtray gets full but they don't have them anymore!) or a new trailer when the black tank gets full.

Obviously said in jest. (except for the jealous part LOL)

I've had good results from these, besides I can't see the red band on the changeover anyway so I need something telling me that one tank is empty and then I know the changeover did it's job, time to refill the empty one. They may not be totally accurate, but for my purposes, they tell me what I need to know. More reliable than the black/grey tank sensors!

In my experiences a tarot card reader is more reliable but others have had good experiences.

Hmm. I'll see your Empress card and raise you a Chariot! (thought the Chariot was appropriate for the site)

I realize that not everyone's propane setup/tank mount bracket are like this, but mine have two support arms welded to the frame and the tank bottom sits on these and then metal strapping to hold them in place. I had a fear, maybe real, maybe not, that when travelling with the sensors on the bottom of the tanks, if I hit a large enough bump in the road that the sensor might actually fall off the bottom of the tank. So, in order to keep that from ever happening, I travel with the sensors ON the tanks, but I added a "net" under the support brackets to catch one if it does indeed fall off.....And yes, I know it's very dirty and needs to be cleaned/washed. We park the trailer next to a gravel road that runs past our house and sometimes the amount of dust from that road is tough to stay caught up with for keeping things clean.

Nice addition. My tank tray is solid so I fortunately don't have that issue. The magnets are very strong on the sensors (at least mine are) but before getting the tank halo I have knocked on off wrestling a tank out with the useless little "feet" the seniors came with

I exchanged a tank a few months back and this was attached to the tank. When i exchanged again, i took it off and put iton the next one and it went to full. The little thing really works well, the idicator went down as needed and i have no Idea how...., maybe Temp. sensitive...
