Anderson 3350 vs Blue Ox Swaypro

Hi all. I’ll likely be purchasing my 1st travel trailer this wk, a new Passport 2950BH, & was wondering if anyone has any good advice between these 2 weight Dist/anti-sway hitches? The trailer has a tongue wt of 705lbs, 7,800lb GVWR (6,157lb dry). I’m towing w/ ‘15 Tundra DC 4x4 which has GVWR of 7,100 & max tow of 10,000. Thanks in advance for any opinions or input.

O.K. Guess I'll be the "weight police".
I think your truck has about 1,500 lb. payload. Loaded, the tongue weight will 1K or more. Add the weight of a hitch @ 100-150 lbs and you're down to 350-400 lbs at best for the family, tools, maps, floor mats, and whatever else you want to put in the truck.

I think, I was just there. I loved the blue ox, but was also supplemented with 5k air bags and bilstein shocks. I liked towing it, i liked camping with it, but I knew that i didn't want a smaller trailer so bigger truck was the answer. You're lucky, Tundra's hold their value nicely, like the gmc/chev. So in the off chance you feel like your truck is on the cusp but love the trailer, the truck is going to be ready to trade in without huge loss like a trade in for a smaller trailer. I think you can't go wrong with either hitch, both quality products. Pack smart, drive safe. Best of luck, and from Toronto

P. S. check the load capacity on your vehicle loading information sticker on the driver's door post. Check it all out empty on the cat scale then weigh it loaded to go camping including passengers. Look at the numbers.

As was suggested, look at the payload sticker inside your driver door. It will give you the payload and axle ratings. 1500 is probably very close. Without the trailer in hand you can figure 13% of the gvw of the trailer for a guide on the tongue weight; in this case 1014 lbs. If that's the case you don't have much payload left for anything else, especially after you add the 125lbs. or so for the wdh/sway hitch. And, you WILL need both with a 34' long trailer on a Tundra.

You might want to look at a smaller trailer or more truck - whichever seems to work in your situation. The Tundra will be hard pressed due to the size of the trailer, it would require air bags, HD shocks (I used Bilstein on my trucks), definitely LT tires if you don't have them and still be even further over weights. Just something to think about. I'm also worried about being over axle weights. I'm not familiar with what Toyota puts on their pickups but they might be a little lightweight.

Thanks for your input. Guess I’ll look closer towards my 2nd choice trailer now, an Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L. Don’t care for the dealer as much But the unit itself is about 2-1/2’ shorter, & About 300lbs lighter.

Take a pic of the label on the driver's side door jamb and post it. 300 lbs less may not be enough. This isn't something you should be "guessing " at. Let's see some real numbers.
