Looking at the 294RL. Love it but now that we’re home it dawned on me we didn’t see the battery and tanks monitors. We currently have a Cougar with in-command which shows this. This important information must be there....right? Where? If not, add? Thanks!

Floorplan, floorplan, floorplan. If you love it, the "monitor" is just a "doo dad" IMO. I've looked at ours maybe twice in 6 years (and they are never accurate)- don't need them. Check my batteries regularly; by the time the little monitor tells you there's a problem....it's probably a REAL problem. Tank monitors? Useless to me. If you pay attention your tanks tell you what's going on. RVs were built for centuries (well maybe not that long) without them and folks got along fine. If you love it I'd go with that and not worry about the "monitors" although I've not looked at any that didn't have them.

Most important thing about the monitor panel is the little switch to turn the propane water heater on and if you have a higher end model, the electrical for the water heater.

I may be wrong, but me thinks the Montana HC does not have iN-Command, it has the typical wall switches, behind a little door on the wall.

You are correct on that, which is why I was wondering if/where the battery and tank gauges would be.

I believe the status indicator panel is the center box, located just to the right of the cupboards in this photo.

It faces you when you come in the door right on the side of the cabinet in that picture. My 2020 does not have the in command system.

There should be a door in the hall just above the steps that has the goodies behind it. That door is often called the door of death because it's easy to leave it open and smack your head on it.

Ours doesn't have InCommand, just the typical panel with typically inaccurate gauges as well as the various light and accessory switches.

Correction: Should have read John's post first. The 294RL moved the door to the side of the Hutch cabinets

If it makes you feel any better, the iN-Command display for the tanks is just as inaccurate and just as bad. Relying on the same 'crappy sensors', but it just looks better on an LCD...

I only look at the fresh water one, the other ones, never. I get a sense of their fullness just by listening, when I flush, it will burp at me in a unique way and tell me

Made me laugh. OEM's should install the latest and greatest Burp-O-Meter...more accurate as well as entertaining

I let mine get full enough you burp once, caused the tank to start to leak around the dump fitting. One new black tank later, everything is good again. Not the most pleasant repair to do.

In my 10 years of RVing, I've learned to listen to those sounds and I never, ever had it fill to the rim.

You are right. It could have dire consequences. Sorry you had issues.

There are better sensors you could install, marine models. But they are not cheap...

I have SeeLevel tank monitors and they showed it was time to dump. I dumped as normal (so I thought). I always dump a little from grey tank first to make sure no leaks before dumping black tank. Senior moment...just dumped grey and went inside. I THOUGHT that tanks were empty, so I didn't push button to check levels until it was too late.

Lesson learned the hard way!

I bought a water meter I put on my hose supplying my TT. I can look at gallons that were used, check tanks and remember how much gray or black tanks were used and go from there.

I agree with the others - monitors are just one tool and a pretty poor one at that. I go way more off of just keeping an eye on how much water has gone where.

Batteries? I suppose I use that a bit more but could still live without it. When dry camping I just run the generator an hour or so a couple times each day and it seems to work out. It usually works out with meal time when I need to use the microwave anyway so firing up the generator was going to happen anyway.

The gauges are on the control panel with all the switches there are four little light that light up to show your level of tanks and your battery. There little black buttons you push and hold .
