Dometic Refrig no battery and no AC

Will the typical Dometic refrigerator function properly if the shore power is NOT connected and there is no 12 volt battery installed but the propane is connected. It would seem the propane would need an igniter unless the burner stays lit all the time.

I may be staying at a campground later this year that requires the AC shore power to be disconnected unless someone is present at the camp sight. Just want to know if I can turn off my battery while I'm away for the day.

Your refer requires 12v for the igniter circuit and the control board to operate on propane. I have never heard of a CG requiring guests to disconnect shore power when gone from the site. Might be a perceived (or actual) safety issue or it could be to limit power usage such as the a/c running. Sort of negates the benefit of having full hook-ups?
Maybe you could provide the name of the CG so we can avoid it?
I don't know why you would want to shut the battery off. It should run the refer for many hours.

We have probably stayed at more than 100 RV parks over the years and at NONE has anyone been required to disconnect power. Are you sure of this? Seems like an unlikely rule....We also are interested in what park this might be.

I have tried for the last several days to reach the park manager to get more info about this. She is out sick probably until next week. Once I get in touch with her and if it turns out to be true, I will post the name of the park. This is from the campground rules:

All units on campsites must be unplugged when camper leaves. There is to be no electric plugged in when no one is occupying campsite (Approved 9/14/10).

This rule could also be interpreted to read that when you actually pack up and leave the site and are no longer occupying it, then you need to unplug from the campsite pedestal. But when you move on, you "pull the plug regardless".

Strange rule which makes no sense no matter how you interpret it.

Howdy All;

May be for insurance (or lack of), to remove the liability in case a fire starts ...

Just a guess on my part.

In speaking with the campground official, they have a number of campers who are long term and leave the campground for a week or more and the rules require them to unplug their shore power to facilitate mowing. I suspect as someone has already pointed out, this is to reduce their liability in the event of a camper fire.

Stupid rule!!!!

BTW... I agree with the comments about that being a stupid rule. I would probably be like, "Huh? And chuckle a bit and ask it that was a joke."

Liability? If their electrical is rotten, it's rotten whether humans are present or not.

I recall growing up in Houston and mowing nearly all-year-round.

I also remember being a little kid and playing outside wearing shorts on Christmas mornings.

I now live where we have 4 seasons... It's actually a nice change.
