Travel Trailer or Fifth Wheel?
Looking at new trailers, currently own a 26 foot Passport, and are looking at both a Passport 33BH and the Laredo 335TG. Towing vehicle is not an issue. Was wondering what will be easier to handle. And are either of these to big of a jump to comfortably tow from my current trailer. The 5th wheel experience would be totally new for me

5er is a much easier tow than a TT by far.
Yes you loose having a cap on the truck, but also have a basement on the 5er that will keep your stuff where you need it.
You also get about 6' of "free" length with a 5er. a 35' 5er will tow like a 29' TT.
No sway issues, easier and quicker to hook up and go.

I agree with Russ thats why we went with the 5er when we bought last fall.

It purely a matter of preference but I have owned 3 TT's and on 2nd fifth wheel now. The fiver tows so much better, storage and space more convenient and breeze to hitch and set up. Fivers cost more, but if you are in it for the long haul and camp a lot then fiver is good choice. You do lose some bed space but not an issue for us.

I would miss my truck canopy and the convenience of stowing my fishing stuff the rest of the time to get a 5th wheel. Just a different opinion.

Fifth Wheels track a little different, more inside of the TV path on corners and they are higher, so you have to pay a little more attention to objects lick tree limbs. But barely any sway, more storage, less total length. You hardly ever see a video of a fifth wheel roll over, I think they are a little safer on the highways.
We love ours, I'm 6 foot so its nice to have the high ceilings as well.

I switched from a TT to 5th 2 years ago and wouldn't go back for many of the reasons mention above however there arena couple of downsides and they mainly have to do with money. The 5ers are more money for the same length. They are generally heavier with much of that weight on the pin. As a result you generally need a bigger truck to tow the same length of trailer.
If your hooking up and driving an hour to the lake and staying put then a TT is probably a good choice however if your traveling long distances and through mountains and in high winds then the 5er is a clear winner.

There are tonneau covers that work well with a 5er. I have a Bak Flip which is a hard cover. Works well for fishing stuff. Folds back when the 5er is connected.

I have never experienced many of the issues many complain about when towing a TT, but then again, I have way more truck than I need for my trailer. My biggest deciding factor was that I did not want to loose my bed space. I work my truck and use it as my daily driver. It is more a matter of what your personal wants and needs are.

We had a tt for 4 yrs and last August we made the switch to a 5ver. We had to give up the bed space in truck, but picked up a whole lot of storage in the camper. The 2 biggest diff for us (me) was pulling the 5ver is a lot is easier and i don't have anymore of those white knuckle drives, also when hooking up(which was done by myself) it is a world of diff. I can easily do it by my self. When you back into your site it is easier as well. It is all personal pref.

OK m2c camping we have a had pop-up 2 TT and our current 5er much rather have a 5er. I have a metal roll up lockable cover over the bed which rolls over slider hitch and other stuff I just leave in truck. I use less blood pressure med with the 5er on the highway
