Furnace gasket material
Hello everyone!
So anyway I bought this 2004 tail gator 210rr toy hauler. I have been working on it for the last few weeks trying to get it ready for my vacation in November.
Well everything was clogged up and glued together with mud dauber nests. Imagine that.
I pulled the furnace out and cleaned out as much of the insectoid concrete as possible, but now I am having a problem.
When I took the furnace apart the gasket that goes to what I think is the combustion fan was brittle and came apart. The part is Suburban 070446.
I have been unable to find this gasket for sale anywhere, leading me to consider making my own gasket. It's that or install a chinese diesel heater, and I can go either way. Cheapest would be get the furnace going again.
Does anyone know what kind of gasket material might be suitable for this application? I don't want to cause any kind of safety hazard, but I sure would like a working furnace.

I'm not hopeful about finding the gasket. It may be a covid related backorder, or it may be that the part and furnace have actually been discontinued.
I did find one website that seemed to indicate the discontinued possibility but I dismissed it out of hand. No way that could be the case.

I have tried all of those people with no success. I ordered it from the pdxrv people only to be told a few days later that it wasn't in stock and they didn't know when it would be available.

From what I can see of the gasket, it's a simply "high heat fiber gasket". Should be able to make one from NAPA gasket material and go from there. I wouldn't install a Chinese diesel furnace in a trailer that currently doesn't have any diesel storage capability. While those systems work well on some vehicles (I had one on my Toyota Land Cruiser) they aren't really intended for RV use.

Do you have any idea what kind of heat said gasket might be subjected to?
I ordered the gasket material suggested by Chuckster but according to the ad it is significantly thicker than the original gasket.
The original gasket looked a lot like styrofoam. or whatever the styrofoam that is fibrous and not made up of little white floaty balls is called. It was blue and very thin, like 1/16 or so. It reminded me of the blue foam insulation boards that you can buy in 4x8 sheets, I don't think that's what it was it just reminded me of that stuff.
For what it's worth, I found the gasket on a website that seemed to be canadian, or at least they charged me in Canadian dollars. When I got the confirmation email it seemed to come from China if you can believe that. I gave about 40 bucks for the gasket this time, but I'm still skeptical about ever getting it.

Hopefully that "Canadian/chinese source will come through for you, but if not, I can't imagine the furnace getting hotter than 400F, so that material should be OK to use.

There is a high limit switch, but I don’t know what temp it shuts off the gas.
On edit: after looking it seems like I have found 130* and 190*, both well below the rating of the gasket material

I'm pulling this from "way in the back of a long term memory bank", but seems I remember the limit switch opening at 160F and resetting at 100F.
The output air temperature at the distribution box is recommended no higher than 110F and 95 is typical at the registers. At least that's what I remember from "way back when I could remember things better".....

Make sure you have a good co monitor. I almost never run my heater but when I do I leave the small kitchen window open a little

The combustion chamber is sealed off from the inside, you don’t have to open a window if your worried about CO poisoning, the stove is worse.
