Malfunctioning toilet fix
Here’s a recent experience I had with bathroom odor due to a malfunctioning toilet. We have been getting an odor in our trailer bathroom of septic for over 2 years now. Sometimes barely there, sometimes very unpleasant. I played around tightening things up, looking for leaks, etc. Bottom line we had a Dometic 300 series toilet and supposedly there is a design issue that has been present for a number of years. There is conjecture online you can get Dometic to replace it but I wasn’t in the mood to play games with a couple trips coming up. I ordered a replacement on Amazon for $200 (310 series which is ceramic with a slow close lid) and yanked the old one out. Problem found-there is a double wall on the 300 that is open to the trailer space and there was easily a gallon of dirty flush water that has been fermenting for as long as we’ve had the trailer.
So just my little public service message to my trailer friends.
