Ignitor on Dometic fridge not working

I attempted to run my Dometic fridge with propane for the first time and the ignitor would not work. No clicking noise coming from the ignitor. Although I do hear what sounds like a solenoid or something. Any ideas?

Can we eliminate the obvious? Propane on? Other propane appliances lighting and working? Fridge set to Propane not Auto (although on Auto the Propane should take over when disconnected from shore power)?

Turn the fridge off, Then remove the cover where the burner is. Check the gap between the igniter/flame sensor and the burner. It should only be about 1/4”. If adjusting it doesn’t help then you need a new control board. The click is probably the gas valve.

If you are sure the igniter is not working then that must be addressed. Have you tried lighting a burner on the stove to purge the air out of the lines? I started mine today and I must have held the lighter next to the stove burner for 30 seconds or more before I got propane instead of air coming out. After that the fridge started right up. I wonder how air gets into the lines? It should be a closed system between tank changes?

Yes, I was able to light the stove and the pilot to the fridge with a lighter.

My Fridge experience...

I spent yesterday foolin around with my Atwood HE0601 fridge. I wanted to test the gas side of the system before our next trip. I heard the igniter but it failed to light. After several attempts the system locked me out and it wouldn't work on ac or gas.

I removed the black plastic cover on the control board and found a .3 amp fuse blown. I replaced the fuse, and as long as the back side of the fridge was opened I ran a pipe cleaner through the gas tube burner. The fridge lit on gas and worked on ac as well after that. My fridge is 8 yrs old and has never given me any real trouble, but I've found out that Atwood has been acquired by Dometic and replacement parts are scarce. Something else for me to worry about now.

I would suggest that you check the igniter cable with an ohm meter for an open circuit, and the fuse or fuses on the control board. good luck I hope it's something simple for you.
