2007 Chevy Classic Duramax
another glow plug, another check engine light on my Duramax. That was number two . So replace them all with the new G9 $20 apiece. Third set of transmission coolant lines, New front wheel bearing assemblies. Transmission and coolant flushes, transmission filter, new shocks all the way around, new transfer case seals. 80,000 miles

That sure seems like a lot of repair work for so few miles. I hope you got it all done and have a wonderful trouble free camping season.

Injectors for $20 each? The ones on mine are around $400 a piece. What has been going wrong with the transmission lines? My dad has an 06, basically the same truck, has 96k miles on it and hasn't had to change anything....he probably needs new shocks, the OE ones aren't really good beyond 80k.

I had same truck and had a few glow plugs go out over the years. I also had the coolant lines replaced. If yours keep leaking you're not getting the right fix. I think I had braided hoses put on mine as opposed to the crappy original design. I also had each front hub done.... along with some other front end parts. IMO, it's just the price of admission for driving the best diesel truck out there.
The Duramax motor with an Allison tranny w/o all the modern day emission junk is the best 3/4 ton truck combo ever offered - and I'm not alone at all in that belief. If you ever want to sell that truck you'll have no problem at all.

I think, if I read his post correctly, he said it was GLOW PLUGS, not injectors that he replaced. Some of the items changed probably has more to do with a lack of use, and seals drying out, than just age.

Oops, guess I can't read. 9 years and 80k miles doesn't seem unreasonable for glow plugs. I'm still intrigued by the tranny coolant lines.

On my current truck I had about half of that stuff replaced by 100,000 miles. Both front wheel bearing, 4x4 hubs, upper ball joints and 3 trannys. Stuff does wear out. Except the ford transmissions of that time they just plan broke.

This is one tough truck and 80,000 miles is nothing for it I've had 3 of them for my company and they were used for what they were meant for and all I ever did was have them serviced and changed the air filters a lot as it's dusty up country.
I'm going to agree with the seals going dry as I've heard of that a few times.
Let us know how it's doing at 160,000 miles

I have an '07 Chevy Duramax 3500 dually classic with 86,000 on it. I've had a few problems but nothing major that wasn't my own fault. Here's a hint - DO NOT MIX ANTIFREEZES, use only the recommended 50/50 orange. If you do mix them it will gel up on you and overheat. Do not even use the ones that say universal - they will still jell up. Cost me a new turbo and a lot of flushing. It pays to read the owner's manual.
Still and all, I love this truck. Be sure and have a dealer make sure that all the tech notices have been taken care of - like the software change for the gadget that senses the exhaust gas output (I can't remember the real name of this thing), the hose that connects to the turbocharger (it will come off and while it is easy to put back on it will not stay on). I think there are a couple more but I can't remember them.
If you have to order after market parts - remember to specify that it is a classic. There was an engine change with the newer body style.

I have the Duramax 6.0, 2006 LBZ engine. No problems. Had most fluid changes and other regular maintenance performed on schedule at dealership, while under warranty. I did not want to hear any squawks from the dealer if something major went wrong. Now I do my own maintenance as mush as I can. Truck runs and pulls like a champ. No problems.

I am not comparing trucks or transmissions but Whoa, the Torqshift transmission of that time is known to be extremely reliable. 200,000+ miles on mine (150,000 by me) with lots of towing and never a hiccup. Just regular fluid changes.

I bought this truck brand new in 2007 was the last of the classics sticker price was $43,000 I got it for $37,000 it's either towing a 14000 pound Montana it's got a 3000 pound pickup camper in it I had a few issues with glow plugs I just had them all replaced with new ones transmission cooler leaked at 28,000 miles replaced under warranty that set started leaking at 80,000 miles had them replaced doesn't look like G M C going to recall these trucks that live in the Rust Belt for the brake lines rusted out I figure I can do a lot of maintenance for $60,000 almost $4,000 in sales tax

2007 classic. LBZ and 6 speed Ally. 1 set of tranny cooler lines at 35k miles. Have 77k on truck now, run 15-40 rotella dino oil. No additives. Pulls 5er nicely. 13 mpg pulling at 62. 20mpg empty at 65. Great truck.
