Twilight Zone

Last weekend we got to use our 2016 Passport for the first time.
First thing I did was changed out all the interior bulbs to LED. I had ordered 2 boxes of the 12 volt but later read that the 12-28 volt was better, so I bought one box of them. I used one box of the 12 volt, really liked them. Then I put in a couple of the 12-28 volt. When I turned on the light, the TV froze up, turn off the light, the TV was fine. Very strange, so I completed the bulb change out with the 12 volt, no issues at all.

Now, I try end cranking up the antenna, the TV froze, cranked it back down, TV was fine. Now, I did have the cable plugged in, didn't unplug the cable to try again but will the next time out.

How could either of these two possible affect the TV? All I could think of was Twilight Zone.

Interesting issues. I'd say the 12-28 bulbs may have some sort of emissions that bother the TV. For the antenna that's weird. Was the TV receiving the signal from the antenna or cable. You have to select it each time on the TV and make sure the amp is on for the antenna too. Have finally my enjoy.

12 VDC LED assemblies don't typically have regulator circuits. 12-28VDC LED assemblies do have regulator circuits on each light assembly. Those regulator circuits can, in some situations, cause radio or TV interference. Usually, there is a ground problem that allows the regulator interference to cause problems. You might want to do some research and troubleshooting on your lights and your 12 volt electrical system. Typically the 12 VDC LED assemblies won't cause the interference (as you indicated) but the 12-28VDC LED's will.

As for the TV, if you had it plugged into cable and were watching TV "on the cable", simply raising the TV antenna won't allow you to view "over the air" stations. You need to first, turn on the Winegard TV amplifier, then switch the TV to "antenna" (or whatever your receiver menu calls it) and do a "channel search" to locate signals. Simply switching from cable to antenna won't allow you to view available stations. Then, once you want to view cable again, you'll need to turn off the Winegard TV amplifier, change the TV receiver to "cable" and repeat the channel search for available channels.

This probably only applies to our rig but on two occasions traveling in the East, we discovered the following: (1) when hooked up to cable, even though there is no signal, you cannot get any signal over the air even with the booster on and the antenna aimed correctly. There apparently is still some signal coming over the cable that kills the over the air transmission, and (2) when certain lights in the bedroom or bathroom are turned on, the over the air signal for the local PBS stations is cut off. These things only happened on two specific occasions and ours was the only rig affected. Has not done it in any other place other than once in Virginia and once in South Carolina.

I replaced 14 of the interior lights with 12-28v LEDs. I haven't seen any reception problems.
