Anyone else Towing with this set up? I took my hide out for the first time last weekend and everything seemed to work okay. I do have a weight distribution hitch, sway-bar, Brake controller, and transmission cooler. I believe I have my hitch set up correctly but was wondering if anyone else had this same set up and how things work for you.

A quick forum search found 4-5 other members with the same Hideout model. Some of these are older threads,
so the members may not be active on the forum, but, at least this should give you a place to start.

Keystone Hideout 19FLB/F150, 4.6L , Larait

To those that have lots of experience towing a camper, do you think my 1/2 ton F150 4.6L will handle towing this camper ( 4100 dry, tongue weight 400). My trucks GVWR is 6350, payload is 1,765, and max. trailer towing is 6,600lbs. Truthfully, I am so confused with all these numbers and weights......somebody just let me know if I take my time, I should be ok for short trips on flat land...... Guess I have read so much about overloading I am scared that I may be pushing it with my set up...... thanks, kenny

The numbers can be confusing and there is tendency to over-think it, plus those who think bigger is always better. You should be just fine and well within the limits of your truck. I'd just take off and enjoy it. Go easy until you are comfortable with towing. I'd be comfortable pulling my Hideout with your truck and it is larger.

Looks good to me. Payload vs tongue weight is good, it will go up when loaded but you have room. Weight of trailer is good, loaded probably low 5,000's so should be good. I use to have a 4.6 engine but could only tow 5,700 so we had to upgrade but with your trailer all should be good. Have fun.

Your good to go. Take your time. Slow is safe and safe is happier.

Kenny,

As long as you keep your trailer weight within reason [don't go over-board with lots of extra gear/cargo], and continue to use a Weight Distribution Hitch
[required for more than 500 lbs tongue weight]... then, yes, I also think you're good-to-go. Relax & go have fun!
