SIRIUS is Free

For those who have a SIRIUS radio in their tow vehicle, SIRIUS has "turned on all the features" from now though July 6, with no charge (free)…

If your vehicle has the radio unit and navigation, all of the SIRIUS travel features, traffic, weather, etc are also functional.

I'd suspect that if you have a home unit or even a unit that's not in a "tow vehicle" those will also work for the next week.

Sweet. Wonder if I can get a rebate on the "FREE" I am paying for? Probably not.

I recently received 3 months free after getting some routine service done on the truck.

I like having Sirius XM, and I do use it when it is available. I'm just not willing to spend money on it.

The annual cost for basic "full range music/news" is around $225 a year. We call every year, tell them to cancel our subscription and they offer us a $99 special rate. This past year, DW said no to that and they offered her a 12 month subscription for $79. Next year, I'm saving myself another $20... Music (if you can call it that) on AM and FM is getting harder and harder to find when on the road. This way, with SIRIUS, we can listen to the same thing anywhere we are in the US, just like home. Works for us and only costs about $7-8 a month.

I gave up Sirius XM and put an Echo Auto (Alexa) in my truck. Connects to my phone with blue tooth and I can get all the music or news and weather I want from Amazon, Iheart radio, Pandora and others. All are hands free and hands free calling too. All you need is an AUX jack on your radio. I got it for $25 on sale from Amazon. The hands free phone alone was worth it if you have an older truck. Hell, Alexa even greets me by name when I make a request and never talks back. All I have to do is say "STOP" and she is quite. Good lord, the perfect woman.

I hate paying for Sirius in my TV all the while it sits unused. As far as linking to my phone via Alexa the Agitator or Siri the Spy, when I run out of FM reception, I'm also usually out of cell service as well.
My wife tires of my singing so we pay for Sirius ...

Sirius ticked me off years ago so I disconnected and never looked back. They would get your credit card and never let go. We had it on 4 vehicles and the web which back then was paying for 5 devices. We wanted to stop the service for a few months on one device. There was no way to stop the service on their web site.

I called them and after waiting for a human for close to an hour, then talking to several people who tried to upsell me on more "packages" back then for another hour I got a supervisor on the line. I was so furious by that time I canceled all the devices and never went back.

I ripped my ~1200 CD disc collection when we bought the truck and have all the songs on a 500GB USB laptop expansion drive, they play in a random order and no repeats so far.

I continue to buy new CDs, rip and add them to the drive in the truck.

I dropped Sirius/xm after getting a $700 renewal bill, for 3 vehicles and having them "automatically" adding the charge to my credit card.

I stream Sirius on my phone tablet laptop etc. since it technically doesn't reach Alaska. The travel link works some of the time. When I am out of cell range, which happens frequently up here I just switch to my Ipod that is plugged in via USB. I dont have enough songs to start a radio station but I am close

I've got a 60 GB flash drive with all the "Top 100 songs in both country and popular categories" from 1955-2010. That's when we left the world of fiberoptic internet service and moved to the woods where, at that time all we could obtain was HughesNet 10MB satellite with a 5 gig download limit. That effectively stopped my "music collecting" as DW needed the download capacity to teach online college courses. So, my "music connection" ended with the move "back to the dark ages"....

I have recently bought a second flash drive, copied all that music on it and plugged it into the Slingshot, so when we're crossing the "Mighty Mack" we turn up the ZZTop or John Cougar Mellencamp, depending on the mood, and "chill with the chill" (it's 40F between the towers on the bridge, even when it's 90F at either shoreline)....
