16 Fusion 325 rear awning

Anyone have their rear awning refuse to open?

Today I attempted to open the rear awning over the back deck and it went out half way then stopped.

So I retracted it but cant get it to extend at all except maybe a few inches.

Ours is a tule. If yours is the same make sure the arms can slide nicely in the channels.

Was able to get a look at it once we got home yesterday. It's a carefree unfortunately it started pouring before I can really mess with it.

Anyone can help identify the carefree model this is looked through all the paperwork I received from the previous owner but no mention of the model.

I tried manually extending it but it wont budge. Actually cracked the piece that you put the wrench in to extend it guessing the motor locked up. Click image for larger version

I believe it is the Freedom Freestyle (wall mount). Try this link -

https://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/d...ice-Manual.pdf

Mine blew off last fall, my fault, wind picked up and was not paying attention.
Wind lifted it up and pulled out the 3- 10mm lag bolts that held it down and off the pivot hinge at the top. So I had a good close look at it when re-installing it. (added a few extra bolts as well!).

Just a little stumped at how it will extend a few inches and retract. I thought motor but if it were the motor wouldn't it be dead completely?

Cant see anything binding up or jammed anywhere

Just a thought but if it’s not been extended for a long time, the fabric might be bound to itself. If you have a helper to press the switch, have you tried to “assist” it on the way out? Also the arms have a pivot in the middle that could be frozen up. Just spitballing, went out and extended mine to see what might be up. Good luck.

In the “reading is fundamental” camp I re-read all the posts, apparently had missed a few of the OP statements. So. What Chuck said...

We extended it last week before we left.

I did attempt to pull on it some, didnt want to pull too hard though.

May attempt taking the motor out over the weekend and bench testing it

Be sure to secure the arms so the awning doesn’t extend all the way by itself. If I remember the arms act as if they are spring loaded.

Yes they do, that's what I'm trying to figure out. The best way to keep it from springing out. I dont have full access to the arms because it is closed to I'm trying to rig something to clamp it in the closed position

They don't look fully open but they are. Are you sure it can extend more? Mine is 317 Fuzion Toy Hauler with the carefree awning.

Got a new motor installed yesterday and everything is good.

The little plastic gear inside the limit switch side broke a tooth so looks like when it would open, it wouldnt turn right and the limit switch would cause it to stop.
