Quality just keep getting better, back in the day three years was about max.
Nowadays one should expect five to seven years from a quality battery.

Huh - maybe I should have called Hyundai for my son's car.

We just replaced battery. Date wasn't marked and it was deader than dead Saturday. Key fob wouldn't even work. I charged it for like 4 hours, and it was still low. Had it tested and it checked out, but decided to go ahead and replace it. Like Jon said - it'll drop you like a bad habit if you try to nurse it.

??? Back in the day (25-30+years ago), a normal off the shelf battery had a 5 year warranty.

Names are one thing and can last years - manufacturing, materials and quality are another.

If you have Rural King Stores in your area check them. I bought 2 of them over the last 2 years. Their label, Exide Batteries, well under a Hundred Dollars. One of them replaced a 2 1/2 year old Duracell from Sam's Club that never was any good!

Like Russ, I remember the old DieHard days and used them religiously on my pickups until Costco came along. Now I buy everything from them, including my 6v batteries for my rv. The only exception is for my Harley where I always go to a local "Interstate" store. My 2013 F150 still has the original battery in it so maybe I'm living on borrowed time??? When it does start to fail though, I'll take Bill's advice and check out what the Ford dealership might offer me.
