12v power for backup camera.

I'm baaaack

2019 keystone hideout lhs. No power to backup camera ( voyager). Where do they tap 12v for that hookup ? It's located center of trailer just below upper marker lights.
All the lights work.
Pulling it with a 2010 Silverado 1500 z71.

You could always just connect it to the marker light wires and simply turn on your marker lights when you need to use the rear camera.

My pre-wired for the camera is just a simple cord tucked under the pre wire cover. Had to pull it out and wire everything up. However, as you state, even with the pre wire, I have to have my lights turned on so it is already wired with the marker lights. Connecting in there to that makes the most sense if you don't have the pre wire.

Power for 99% of camera's is supplied by/from the trailers running lights. Just tap into that circuit.
For 99% of trailers (actually, all of them in my experience) the TV's lights must be turned on to power the trailers lights.
Ergo, your camera won't work unless your TV's lights are on.

That’s the only way mine works. Have the lights on.

My Alpine 3650RL has full time power to the back up camera no matter what, lights on or not. I can review the rear camera even driving down the road with no lights on or I can with the rv in the campground at any time. Have you loioked in the hole for a loose pair of wires?

My power for the pre wire system was tapped into the reverse lights. Meaning the truck needed to be in reverse and a few seconds later the camera would power up and connect to the monitor. Have you tried putting truck in reverse?

What I found was , no 12v power at the pre-wired camera outlet. So I did what everybody has suggested and pulled 12v from the clearance light
Wa - la , backup camera works and has paired with my monitor.
Thanks for all the responses ! 12 v has been my nemesis this year for some reason. Had issues with my riding mower too.

Dave this topic comes up quite often and most of the time the information is accurate. But I want to add that many Keystone 2020 and forward models get the 12v. from the trailer battery. Not the tow vehicle. There is no need to have tow truck lights on. In fact, your camera will work when truck is disconnected including when on shore power. With that said I am not sure about the 2019 models. Ok, now to my point! If your trailer battery gets below 12v. your camera will not work or power on. I invested in a solar trickle charger that I keep on my battery It charges it to over 13 volts. I have not had an issue in 4 years. (Hint: Blue light on the camera will not be on when the voltage drops below 12v.

I am going to find this out shortly.

I have an Amtifo backup camera and am planing on taking off the middle running light on the back on the Trailer, splicing it together and fishing a hole down to where I need to mount the camera.

From what I have heard, running lights MUST be on for the camera to work.

All the best!

15 AMP Fuse between 3 and 4 worked for me.
