Anderson hitch modifications
The silver box in the back of Anderson hitch is made from sheet metal with a rubber bottom and 1x6 Wood liner . I used Igloo cooler cut down for the cover. It holds 5 gallons of DEF two 2 1/2 gallon containers. I used all thread with clear rubber hose over it and bolted to the Anderson and a ring welded on top that is where I hook my trailer brake cable. When my Duramax says add the DEF it will take 4 1/2 gallons. I use truckstops to fill my containers.

DO GM's still not have a DEF gauge? our 2016 Ram has a DEF gauge so I can decide ahead of time if I need to carry or add DEF. When the gauge is down to 1/2 it will easily take a 2.5 gal container to fill.

My 18 comes on at low around 300 miles towing . The L5P use 50% more then my traded in LML . It was never a concern with the LML.

Nice mod!
My only concern would be did it compromise the hitch by drilling/welding on what's already a lightweight hitch.
A disclaimer!
I have no experience with an Anderson hitch & am more than leary of using one for a heavy 5th wheel with 3-4k pin weight hammering down on a 35lb aluminum pyramid. Just my .02 cents.

No welding 1/4 hoe At the top side back angle with a turn buckles to secure the box between the pyramid pipe . One 3/8 hoe on the big aluminum gusset to bolt the rod for the brake away switch . Total of three small holes at non critical structural points .

Storing DEF is not a good idea, especially in a warm environment. I would be asking a dealer why you are using so much. Like Russ when I get to 1/2 on the gauge it takes a 2.5 gal box. In the 1550-1700 miles trip to AZ from NW Washington I add one box in route. There are WMs all along the interstates and they sell a lot of it, so it is fresh.

What you figure is the resonant frequency of that banjo you added?
LOL
We did a minimal about of that in my previous life. If we had a piece of rotating equipment that we just couldn't get the vibration out of, we would add a banjo. We could slide the weight (banjo) up or down while watching vibration and fine tune that vibration. That would really freak out the production engineers. Later we would go before a Management of Change committee before changing any OEM equipment. AKA: Replacement In Kind ONLY.
I assume you did a full Finite Element Analysis on that change?
Naa messing with you. Likely no effect.
Mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

The last Ford I had didn't have a gauge either. All of a sudden: DEF LOW.

The idea temp is 75 degrees def can stand cold better then heat. I know through experience the L5P uses a lot more def then the lml . About 1 gal to 350 miles with GVW of 23000 lbs . This is the norm for late model dodge,Chevy I won’t say ford . Smoking what truck do you have that’s getting better def mpg over late 17 year.
