Replacing trim weatherstripping

I'm getting ready to replace my weatherstripping that covers the screw holes along the roof and back panel, my question is to access the top section along the back the piece is also sealed to the roof... I don't wanna open a can of worms, am I able to fit it into the channel and slide it up to avoid having to seal this thing up in multiple spots?

Most often the insert molding is held in place by a screw and covered with some type of sealant. Most likely it’s a squarehead #2, just remove the sealant, put the new insert in using the same screw to anchor it. We use silicone sealant “Boss 378” made for RVs. SikaFlex, or ProSesl would work too.

Chuckster57 thank you, I know you know alot about these campers... so hopefully its ok to ask ya a few more questions, is the insert trim molding only cosmetic or does it play a role in preventing moisture? Also how the top of the molding fits into the roof bracket am I ok to just get the molding into the track and slide it up and under the bracket(from the pics above?) From what I could tell if I remove that bracket I would be into the roof seal to get it apart... I might just be overthinking all of this just would stink if I did it wrong!

That corner piece looks like it will come off if you take the screws out.

Insert molding is decorative and keeps moisture off the screws. I would take that “cover” off, most likely you’ll see how the factory used it to secure the end of the molding.

I'm with Chuck. I think that "L" shaped corner bracket in pic 2 will just unscrew and expose the ends of the tracks. I would not recommend removing the tracks. Just pull out the old insert, install the new and then, IMO, install end caps with a screw through the vinyl to keep it from retracting. You can't push it into the tracks, you need to bow it and slide it into the opposite side track which will make the ends of your fingers sore if you have a lot - also check the tightness of the screws under the insert at the same time...do not overtighten them.

I use a plastic windshield tool, put one side in and just run the tool, it will guide the other edge into the track.

You guys are awesome! I trust your advice I will crawl back up there and see, it just gave the quick appearance the roofing sealant attached to that piece so I have what I needed! Thanks again!
