2021 keyTV , can't find dome

We have a new 2021 25rdswe, cougar half ton. We have owned other cougars, this is first with key tv...

We have a Directtv 4100 Dome, which won't pick up a signal thru Key TV box... if I hook up thru the door directly, works fine.

I have checked all wires, blue light on, checked with meter. Wire has continuity...usually when you hook up the dome it makes that searching noise when hooked to KeyTv there is nothing.

Anyone else have these issues? With dome not working thru this great Key TV...

I don't use a dome but I do know lots of folks, including myself, have had all kinds of issues with KeyTV. Behind where you connect your satellite (panel with blue light) there is a diplexer which then filters the various signals coming in so it knows what you're watching. On the other end is another module. All of mine were bad along with some of the connectors and I did exactly what you are doing (through the window) to make cable TV work.

I have the KQ 4100 dome and have been using for 7 years... My Alpine doesnt have KeyTV but the SAT connection is a direct coax to LR TV set..

The coax feed from your KeyTV to LR outlet is a direct feed coax so it should work provided the POWER INSERTER is able to feed thru the KeyTV module

If you have the power inserter located at the Receiver end you might want to try and move it out to the incoming coax feed from your 4100 to the KeyTV box and see if that corrects your issue

I suspect the 12 volt signal isn't passing thru the KeyTV module thus no power to servo motors and such inside the 4100 KQ Dome

Pic is alternate suggested hookup from KeyTV document

And since you state you HEAR NO SERVO motor motion inside the 4100 that tells me the power inserter 12 volts is not passing thru the KeyTV module

The gray box IS the power inserter that provides 12 volts DC to the KQ4100 antenna..

The 12 volt signal HAS to pass thru the coax to that dome antenna otherwise there is no power to the servo motors to drive the antenna head to search for the 101 satellite

If the KeyTV is not letting the 12 volts pass thru then sat some will not work

I had problems with my key tv an found out it was the coax cables from the antenna were cut during assembly. Pull the trim pieces off of your vents and make sure they didn't cut your coax when they cut the vent holes out in the roof.

Still messing with this... now that football season is here. I did hook up the power inverter right in the back of keytv black outside box... still nothing. Hooked it up outside directly by removing 4 screws. And wiring nothing.... only works thru kitchen window...ugh

I’d have to use my multimeter and measure the DC voltage at the coax end that screws into KeyTV module to see if 18 volts DC is present on the coax…

If it is and then you connect coax back to KeyTV module and measure at the coax input side of the KeyTV module for SAT and have no 18 volts DC at that connection the the KeyTV module is not passing the needed voltage to power the servo motors in the dome antenna m

This is a quick and simple test to verify if the KeyTV module is at fault…which I bet it is

Start at page 13 of this TS guide
