Hotpoint outdoor kitchen mini fridge

Anyone have any comments on the life expectancy of a mini fridge? Loaded question, right? The one we have/came with camper is giving up. It's a few weeks past the warranty (of course). My thought is that these are not designed for the rigors of towing (especially on SC highways! ), rather for home use under a counter or in a garage/workshop. Ours is cooling but only down to the 50's. We use it keep drinks in and to pre-cool warm drinks and such before placing them in the inside dometic fridge.

Once we got to the site and set up I turned on the fridge, put in a few soft drinks and called it a night. Next day (24 hrs later), went to grab a drink and it's cool at best, not cold.

Had thoughts of pulling that fridge out and putting in a sliding tray that can hold the weight of a medium sized cooler with ice. Side in, slide out. Simple. No more failing mechanical fridge to worry about.

Ours came with a Pummel-Drive mini-fridge. Going on two years and 15,000 road miles with no issues so far. We actually had to turn up the thermostat because it was freezing stuff.

The TV we have is Pummel-Drive. Have never heard of that brand until now.
Wish the fridge was.

OP-if you think SC roads are bad try a trip to southern NY and Long Island. There are hundreds of shops there that specialize in straightening rims. That is very telling.

Is there a temperature control (thermostat)? Maybe on the back?

There is, it’s inside the main door, to the right of the small freezer door. Think residential mini refrigerator you’ve seen at Walmart, Target, Lowes, Jome Depot, etc. This is what it is. Turn that knob to the left (CCW), and it clicks over to the ”Off” position. Go right and you have settings 1-6, 6 being the coldest.

QC- I was thinking a suspension and alignment shop might be a good investment along the towns next to I-95 and I-26. The new equalizers were very noticeable and did a great job, on normal pavement, but they were no match for those roads. We’ll be taking a different route home. Less tiresome of a drive.
