Slide cable bracket problem
Anyone ever have this problem? Found during our first time out.
Cable bracket is pulling away, bottom screws are all stripped out.

Looks to be a new camper from how clean that area is. If so, that's a warranty fix, especially if the screws are not holding.
Have someone assist by gently pushing on the slide wall in the middle when pulling it back in so that there is less strain on that bracket.
The fact that it isn't parallel with the wall isn't as much of a concern (to me), I've seen a lot of them haphazardly put on like that, but if the screw threads are pulling out of the side of the wall, that's a problem that needs attention.
(I don't see the bracket pulling out of the wall in the included picture, but I do see the phillips heads have some stripping from the install.)

Yes, this is the first trip or trial run at a nearby state park.
the top screws are tight but the lower ones are obviously a result careless use of an impact driver (I assume). They just spin in the hole. I see a few other examples of speed vs quality in the manufacturing process.
Thanks for the advice
This is a 2022 model but we took delivery last April.

While if under warranty you can take it to the dealer for repair and probably not have it the rest of the season. They take forever to do anything. Unless you can workout taking it in and them fixing while you wait. That could happen since it’s something easy. Or you could try a larger screw see if that holds. Maybe could use something to plug the hole and re screw it. How about some sort of anchor for screws. Just an ideal whatever you do good luck.

That bracket is BENT too. It really needs to be replaced and the problem that caused it and the screws coming out addressed, otherwise I think your looking at bigger issues down the road.

I see now what you are seeing. I thought it was the bracket being on top of the black trim piece that gave it the look it has, leaning in toward the direction of the cable.

I looked at it again today and the only thing holding the bottom screws in is the silicone sealer. The worst screw is actually busted off so they just put RTV on it to hide the mistake. I’m not surprised to find some issues but some kind of quality control should be present to find these things.

That’s horrible. I remember finding a poorly sealed drain pipe under our furnace in the previous camper we had. Brand new, leaked as if there was no pipe. It was something that should never had happened but did and still does. I was able to fix it but your situation calls for a warranty fix. Sorry to hear this.

I'm usually tolerant of poor design/workmanship...but it seems that the slides on the keystones from the past couple of years are terrible. I've been dealing with one problem after another. And the dealership can't even look at it for months First the cable/bracket mounting similar to what you have seen which I fixed loose screws by JBWeld. On the last trip, I happen to see water leaking in through/around the window. It will only happen when it is pouring...and it doesn't matter if the slide is out/in (it isn't the roof of the slide). Anyways silicone on the top of the windows fixed one window the other still leaks some as the 'wallpaper' is bubbling under that window...which means the luan is compromised. I've taped the frame of that window entirely now and will have to deal with it after.
I'm sure there will be future posts from me on how to correct slide issues! But I know.

I had the exact same issue with one of my brackets. I had only limited success using larger screws and moving one to another location. I finally had a mobile tech anchor them down with a type of large pop rivet. So far they are holding well.

I think they are called butterfly rivets.

That's good to know. They do much better than pop rivets. I was skeptical when I saw him install them but a year later I am impressed.

Another solution is to use RIVNUTS. They are easy to use, but do require a specific size hole to be drilled and a specific tool to install the rivnut. Also, the correct rivnut has to be used, so that it will "expand and tighten against the material used to secure the nut. in this case, the aluminum stud to which the bracket is mounted. You'd need to use a rivnut that has a short shank and would tighten against the metal inside the hole.

I have some experience with rivnuts. Use them in the Air Force in a lot of applications. Might be what is needed, thanks!

I've never used these but I wonder if they are long enough to fully reach the aluminum stud inside the wall.

The tension adjustment is located on top of the slide-out, inside the camper. Download the service manual.

Had one of the top brackets pull half off the wall. Turns out the traveler got caught on each other and the top one pulled out. I used new larger diameter bolts and moved the bracket up slightly and readjusted the travelers. Didn't need to adjust the cable going into the wall. No problem since.
