Dometic DM2652 Refrigerator not cooling

We have a typical Dometic DM2652 refrigerator, just 1 year old.

The freezer is operating fine (0 degrees)

The refrigerator seems to only get to 50 degrees

The thermistor is pushed up high to get as cool as possible. There is no ice on the fins.

We have tried turning to just gas, and auto, neither seem to make any real difference.

The propane tanks are full, and pushing propane out just fine (stove operates normally)

We are hooked to shore power

The Igniter was recently replaced, and the refrigerator was "blown out".

The coils at the top of the "chimney" are clean, and there are no obstructions.

The outside temperature is 90 degrees or less



Any idea's on how to trouble shoot, or determine what is wrong?

Don't know if you're new to RV camping or well seasoned, so don't know if you know this. These absorption refrigerators take a long time to cool the fridge. Like all day or overnight, and even longer if ambient temp outside is over 90. How long has it been on? Do you have an IR thermometer, if so what temp do you get pointing it on the cooling fins?

If the freezer is properly cold then I would say the fridge is properly chilling. You noted the thermistor is at the top hight on the fin, that's where it needs to be. You might take a look at the other end of the thermistor wire, where it plugs into the circuit board on the back of the fridge (under the black plastic cover).

Don't load anything into the fridge until it gets cold. And don't have anything warm in the fridge while it's trying to get cold.

Yes been rving for many years.

yes this is a refrigerator that has been running normal for about a year.

The cooling fins are at about 45 degrees

Things were fine for quite some time, now just the refrigerator portion is not staying cool

Check the thermistor to make sure it's working. There are a number of videos on U-Tube that show how to use a cup of water and a multimeter to check it. If it's bad, replace it.

If it's good, your choices are to start "throwing replacement parts" at it, which could get very expensive or contact a Dometic serviceman to check it out and repair it.

If it's 1 year old, it's still in warranty. No need to spend money on "parts that might not be the problem" in trying a "self-help fix"....

Get with the dealer or get online at the Dometic website and find a "factory authorized service center" in your area. It does not need to be an RV dealer. There are marine repair centers and independent repair centers in most locations.
