Electricity issues?

So I am new to all this. Just got my first trailer, 2009 freedom lite. I was trying to replace a light bulb and I was supposed to be putting a 1383 bulb into this special socket that swivels (there are only 2 in my interior) and I didn't realize the bulb I was replacing it with was different. It was a bayonet double contact light bulb that I was using to replace in the bayonet single contact socket. So when I put in the new bulb, I had the other light on at the time, the twin light socket which was on and working went out suddenly, then all my tank sensor lights stopped working, so I'm pretty sure my water heater isn't working anymore and I noticed later on that my stereo is also no longer recieving power. What did I do? I'm guessing it has something to do with the battery? Although I am currently plugged into power so everything else seems normal.... any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like you popped a fuse. It might seem strange, but your lights are running 12v off your battery. Being plugged in makes power go through your converter to charge the 12v batteries. If you go to your main breaker panel you should find a row of flip breakers and a row of fuses. The fuse for interior lights is probably blown.

Hope that helps.

Unplug from shore power. If you lose everything 12V, then look for the reverse polarity fuses.
In some models they are on the fuse side of the power distribution center, to the left of the row of fuses.

On others they are on the back of the converter.

Checked the reverse polarity fuses just now and they are both fine... unplugging isn't going to tell me much cause my batteries are pretty much shot anyways. I doubt they will power anything. I need to buy new ones but since I'm plugged into power I didn't see the need...

I take that back, unplugged and tried my slide. It still slides in... but still the reverse polarity fuses aren't blown....

So your on the right track of finding out what does work. Do you have 110 things working when plugged in? Outlets/AC ?

Did you use a meter to test the fuses?

Set it to continuity. Test your meter by touching the tips together, the display should read 0 and if it has the ability to produce a tone it should.

Your fuses should have a small opening on the top of each blade.

Sorry not everything, lights and plugs all work. Fridge works, microwave works, a/c works, heater works. But no stereo, the 2 swiveling lights, and my tank sensor control panel with the power switches for my water pump and water heater still dont light up.

Ok, rule out anything 110V as they are a separate circuit. I’m trying to think what may have happened.

Some meters the place to check continuity is Ohms. Put it on the lowest scale. If the hot water using the electric element, the stereo, etc. are not working you may have tripped a breaker and not a fuse. I have two 120V AC lights in my slide out; one over the table and the other over the couch. I think they may use the oddball bulbs you describe. Why Keystone chose to use 120V fixtures in only that one location is not clear; probably got a bunch for cheap. Check check your breakers; if a breaker pops, it doesn't necessarily look popped completely... will just sag a bit. Turn the suspect breaker all the way OFF then On and it will click.

You mean the breakers in my trailer? Next to the fuses? Cause I've turned those off and on several times. Or do you mean the ones where I'm plugged in at?

If you happen to have some new fuses I’d try swapping the reverse polarity and lighting fuse with one you know is good. Often they can be bad and “look” good.

Or use the meter

The breakers in the trailer will be the ones to trip, most likely if you have any AC in the camper. For instance, is your microwave lights on? If so, the main (30A) breaker is OK and the microwave breaker (it will be on a separate breaker) is OK. One of the others will be suspect. On my camper, I have one for the A/C (20A), one for the stiff in my entertainment center, one for the water heater electric element and one for the wall outlets. If your oddball light fixtures are A/C it might possibly be on the GFCI circuit but I just don't recall for sure.

I tried using the meter- I dont know if its reading anything. It's not digital, very old, and the arm barely moves no matter what I touch it to.

I’d try changing the stereo fuse in the fuse panel…if you are having trouble using a meter…chances are that’s the one that’s blown or one of them

I've turned those off and on bunches of times and it doesnt change anything. The 2 lights still dont work, stereo not showing a clock and the lights on the water heater/ pump switches aren't coming on.
