Is the clicking from the furnace or thermostat?
If the furnace could be the fan rubbing something.
If the thermostat I haven't got a clue.

Welcome to the forum : wlcm:

What model thermostat? If it’s the thermostat clicking, was it clicking before you changed it?

Does it click continuously like a clock ticking? or is it one click when the furnace comes on and then a click when the thermostat reaches temperature?
Some older thermostats have a bimetallic snap switch that can be loud when it engages.
Is it definitely coming from the thermostat and not the metal from furnace or ductwork expanding as it gets hotter?

I've had thermostats that click when the furnace comes on then reaches temp as jasin mentioned. I've never had on click loud or continuously. I have had the controller in the AC vent overhead do what seemed like continuous clicking in various situations. Is your stat located so that the sound might be coming from something else? I'm sure you've verified that but just thinking out loud.

You mention the thermostat is new. Did the other one do it? Is the new one a direct replacement for the old one?
