Air bags with overload springs

I have 1 ton Denali . Today I put 30 lbs in each bag unloaded loaded each bag has 45 lbs loaded on my 311 impact empty. The over load spring are 2 inches from touching the top . This will be my first time towering with the new air ride bags . Should I have some weight on the over load springs?

See how it rides. I towed my old Jayco once without bags on my truck in sig. the king pin was heavy enough that I was off the overloads, but every bump would cause them to “engage” and I would bounce down the road. Put bags on, kept them at 35-40 PSI and I didnt touch the overloads. Current rig is at least 500 lbs lighter at the pin, so I use less air and still off the overloads with a smooth ride.

What Chuckster said - my truck was an inch or so above those leafs - air bags corrected the engagement over bumps problem. You also need to experiment on pressure as I started out with 30 but have since dropped them down to 20 psig - 5ers level and no more added bounce.

The ride with air bags improved the towing handling a lot . The 1 ton trucks what good are over load other then extra weight . I got the same feel ride as 3/4 ton after I added bags. Excluding power and the up grades and yellow sticker . In my opinion air bag should increase gvw and pay load . Dodge has 3500 trucks that come equipped with air bags .

I use 35 lbs of air unloaded and about 2" off the over-loads. I don't think you want to "be on" the overloads when hooked up.

The air bags are a good addition - have put them on my last 2 trucks too.

Bilstien shocks help too - maybe more for the front than the rears with air bags.
