Dometic 310 Toilet Floor Seal $26 OR???

So my toilet is leaking around the base and it points to the floor flange seal (not the ball valve seal). After looking quite a bit all I can find is one part going for around $26. Is there a "generic" seal I can grab somewhere that will work, or do I need to sell some body parts for this seal that should cost about $4-6?

I've found they normally sell for about $20-25 at most RV parts stores, so paying $26 online with shipping is about the right price. You can't use a wax seal, unlike a S&B toilet, the one in your RV moves down the road, vibrates and wiggles, so it would start leaking with a wax seal after the first day or two. That doesn't address the temperature extremes an RV is subjected to. One hot day in Arizona would melt a wax seal into the holding tank and/or out onto the DW's "newly cleaned floor".... That isn't good for "happy camping".....

I haven't found anything at a Lowe's or HD that I'd trust in an RV. Not saying it doesn't exist or what's there can't be modified to work, but as often as it gets replaced, I wouldn't suggest trying to spend the time and frustration to modify something when the designated part is a quick "buy it, install it and forget it" kind of thing..... YMMV

ADDED: Don't overlook the gasket that's between the porcelain bowl and the plastic base. A number of people have found leaks at that location. It sometimes leaks from the outside and is readily apparent, other times it leaks internally, runs down the inside of the base and looks like a toilet flange leak, so be sure what you've got going on. Dometic recommends toilet replacement and says the bowl/base gasket is not replaceable, but a number of people take it apart, use silicone and get several years out of the repair.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something knowing how overpriced all this RV specific stuff is. As for the bowl - base leak, it could be that, I'm not sure til I get it apart though and wanted to have the seal on hand just in case I get lucky and that's all it is, otherwise it's a new toilet. I have seen, only once of twice, a small line of dried "blue" liquid from that seam, so that's probably not a good sign.

The pricing you're looking at looks fair if that's to the door. I didn't see anything "generic" for the toilet. When I recently replaced my Thetford with the Dometic 310 the gaskets looked pretty different. I'd buy the gasket then pull the toilet and hope that's where the leak is. The blue line at the pedestal/bowl seal doesn't sound encouraging. If you have to replace the toilet, it comes with a new seal so you may have a spare or keep it in good shape and return it.

The Dometic toilet is completely rebuildable, unless cracked, & the last time the entire kit wasn't much more than $25-30 & came with the floor gasket. The floor gasket is a thick foam donut, I can't imagine it cost $25, in fact I've got 2 in my parts stash.

Do you have a link for that rebuild kit? I'd definitely be interested in finding the part number for either the gasket or a rebuild kit for the 310 toilet.

Sorry I ordered mine off the internet a couple years ago & seems it was from Dometic?
The above link shows a wax ring, & none of my rvs, whether Thetford or Dometic toilets, have had wax rings, all have been about a 1/2" thick very dense foam donut.

Thanks all. I'd be interested in the rebuild kit, everything I've read says Dometic says it's not fixable, but of course they want you to buy a new toilet.

I looked at that and read questions/reviews. It looks totally different from the Dometic one and comments seem to say it isn't the same. BUT, that's MUCH more in line with what the price for a donut of foam should be.

This is a Thetford seal. When I was messing with mine before I replaced it the lady at CW parts brought me both seals; Thetford and Dometic, they didn't look anything alike other than being round. The Thetford has a rounded over lip while the Dometic is just a round, squared off gasket. It might work but I'd be afraid it would leak or not fit.

If you look at the Thetford you can see on the inner circle the rounded over edge that turns into a lip. The Dometic doesn't do that.

I think I'm missing something. The new Dometic toilet came with a "Thetford" seal?? I pulled a Thetford and it looked just like the one in the link. I installed a Dometic and the seal looked just like the one in that link......the two are very different as were the ones the parts person brought me; one Thetford, one Dometic??? The pictures aren't the best but they are not the same seals, and, one specifies Dometic and the other Thetford. I doubt they are using the same seal from the same place

Edit: I'm not saying that one might not replace the other, they may. I did not want to try using one made for one toilet on another since they were definitely different in the way they were shaped.

We had our Dometic 310 leak, while on a trip to Branson. Noticed it leaking at the bottom of the bowel and would drip down on the front to the floor. I went to a Camping World somewhat near there and explained the situation. The service person said there was no point in trying to replace the seals and that we would need a new toilet. The replacement seals would not work or last, they said. Decided to replace and upgrade. It was easy to replace.

Did the seal fix the leak?

Mine seams to start leaking every 1.5 years. Domestic sent me a new one when it leaked in early 2017. The new one is now leaking.

Here is an interesting thread from another forum regarding the leaking 310 at the base:

I've seen that before. Dometic claims it has been fixed. They said it was a certain number of toilets. It could be an issue with all of the 310s.
