I ordered the Carlisle HD 225 75 R15 D from tire direct. I got them to price match Walmart so I got 5 tires delivered for 323.00 total. I added the 3 year certificates for 12.00 ea.

I also ordered the steel wheel Buster recommended for the spare tire. Only 33.00.

Last, I will order the new rims, I am looking at about 330.00 delivered.

So, for +/- 700.00 I upsized from 14" C to 15" D - 5 wheels. Not bad. Thank you all for your advice and guidance.

Axles, suspension, brakes, etc..basically everything under the frame rails can be improved upon. It all comes down to how much time, energy, and money you have. Personally, I'd stick with wheels / tires and keep your weights within the manufacturer's specs of the coach. I plan on a wet bolt upgrade this summer. Bushings on the stock OEM bolts are a joke. Greaseable fittings seem to a responsible (and relatively easy) upgrade on our trailers.

Don't you wish Keystone put as much thought into safety margins as we did? It may have cost a few more dollars on delivery. But I'd bet we'd pay the premium differential.

^^^ Agree. Wet bolts and decent tires. How much can that increase the price of a $35000 rig?

When you order your rims, make sure you order ones with plenty of reserve capacity as well. When I spoke to Sendel reps last year, they explained something to me that I never thought about. The aluminum wheel flexes as well and over time it's just like flexing an aluminum can back and forth. Eventually they will crack at the spoke/hub joint. Mine came with T03 that had about 400 lbs of reserve weight capacity per wheel, Sendel recommended removing them and upgrading to a higher spec wheel. Went with wheels that had an additional 400 lbs of rating each.

If his OEM tires and wheels are like mine, he'll be increasing his load rating from 1760 lbs to 2540 lbs per tire, close to 2320 lbs of extra reserve capacity. Not too shabby.

Thanks for the heads up on the Wal-Mart sale. Picked up 5 Carlisle HD LRD tires for less than $300. Mounted them on Sendal 15" wheels from Amazon that were about $70 each. Affordable replacement for the 14" LRC setup that came on my Passport.

Nice. My tires arrived via UPS yesterday. Just waiting for the wheels.
Did the new 15" wheels and tires fit on your Passport easily?

Went to the Walmart web page... no 14" tires listed for the Carlisle HD

Bummer.

Ya, I was already planning on looking at DT, I just checked their web site and the "ST205/75 R14 105M D1 BSB" is listed at $75.

That would be a load range increase, from the OEM tires, which I believe have a late 2012 date code on them

Thanks,

-Brian

We had the same issue - nothing on the Wally World page. I went into the store and spoke with the department manager about the Carlisle HD. He looked it up on one of their computers. He quoted (and provided a printout for) $47/tire for the C range and $50/tire for the D range. I went with the higher capacity tire. Less expensive than any other tire dealer in the area.

I just looked at WalMart.com for Carlisle HD 235 80 16 LR E. Dang they were $77 each with free shipping to my local store, 6 blocks away. Wish I needed them. Tempting.

Question - if I bought these at Wmart I wouldn't be too keen on having them install them. How would any reputable tire shop feel about being asked to install tires bought elsewhere, assuming they wouldn't price match? Last time i had tires replaced my local Chevy dealer price matched the best online deal I could find and mounted them for me, but that service advisor isn't there anymore and I doubt they would do that again under current management. I DON'T have a DT tire local, I'd need to drive at least several hours.

Almost every WalMart that I've seen will NOT remove wheels from trailers, so any tire replacement would mean you would have to take the wheels to the service center for them to R&R tires, then reinstall them yourself. While many WalMarts do have enough space beside the service center to park, they frown on you jacking your trailer in that area. So, having tires replaced at WalMart will probably involve some work on your part. Also, keep in mind that many tire centers also have limited parking and can't accommodate large trailers, so it's not "exclusively a WalMart problem"..... To answer your question about "will other tire centers R&R tires bought elsewhere? My experience is yes, for the price listed in their store. Usually $15 a tire or around that price. Some include balancing, others charge more to balance. Just call and ask your nearby store about their policy and pricing.

Also, looking at the WalMart site, they list the Carlisle Radial Trail RH Trailer Tire - ST235/85R16 LRF/12 ply for $94. That tire usually sells for around $135 at Discount Tire. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Carlisle-...uded/194273051

Thanks John. Even if they would I don't think I'd have them do it. And I don't have the resources to R&R them myself, so it needs to go someplace. And that's the problem, many local tire places are small and I wouldn't be able to get into them to begin with. I've scouted out a few online with good reviews. I just might have to drive an hour to get this done. Living here is a major hassle sometimes. Everything but nothing. But they are 3 years old and older than I want. Just haven't been able to get to them and at least one is now showing uneven wear on the outside shoulder. Has to be done before the next trip. Might need to find a mobile service. Bet that would be cheap.

We face a similar dilemma where I live. I have to drive over an hour to get to a Walmart or "good" tire shops. If I were you (JMO) I would find the best place wherever it is an hour away, have them acquire the tires then go have them mount and balance them. Make sure they have a place to work on the trailer, drop it, go shopping at the places you don't have at home, eat out at a place you don't have then go back, get the trailer and go back home. Works for us.

From your post it sounds that you need to get those new tires right away so take some time to make plans to be sure you get it done. Not doing so could really ruin a persons day if you tried to continue using the ones you have.
